He's quickly losing my support too. If he (Bush) can be THIS wrong on illegal aliens, the Dubai port deal, spending... well, now I'm wondering if he's wrong on the war.
Bush isn't loosing my support. I strongly oppose him on many fronts, but the WOT trumps all, IMO. We needed to go into Iraq, and there's success there, despite what the media says.
Bush's term is over in 2008. I'll support him till then, and I'll probably continue to say after that that he was a good president, better than any alternative at the time.
My prediction regarding the immigration issue: Nothing of substance will be done before 2008. Bush is dreaming if he thinks he can get his "guest worker" program through. There's nothing to worry about there. IN 2008, the candidates are going to run on an immigration platform. It's going to be big then. And the conservative candidate (assuming there is one), when/if he wins, will be the one to truly push reform.
The most important thing to do right now is keep an eye out for a candidate that will be strong on reform in 2008. And to vote for one's representitives in 2006 that one feels will be equally strong. As for Bush himself, the best thing we can do is support him on the WOT, because that's about all he can give us anymore: strong leadership against the Islamofascists.
(as for the port deal, I think Bush was right to support it. I consider that a failure of the Congress. I'm done debating it though, because so many don't separate "Arab" from "Islamofascism", both here on FR and the country in general)
Bush was quite correct on the Dubai ports deal.
