I didn't realize what a Xenophobic paper the Washington Times was. /s

Since the public seems to have a better grasp of U.S. laws, I'll throw my 2¢ in. New Policys. No visitor (tourist type) may stay more than 60 days. ALL normal legal immigration suspended for 8 years. We are at war. Time for tough measures.
This isn't surprising at all to me. No one I know is for illegal aliens. Too bad both parties won't get together and do the right thing for once.
and all FReepers. Do you get the feeling that we're losing control of our country? It's estimated that today 3000 illegals entered the USA; half a million demonstrated in LA and the Hispanic mayor, Villaraigosa, speaking before a mob said there were "no illegals here today" and that the only thing "un-American and illegal" was HR 4437 (Sensenbrenner's bill). The Archbishop of LA, Mahoney, urged defeat of HR 4437 and urged catholics to aid and support illegals. It is estimated that the wages paid to citizens have been depressed by $200 billion per year due to illegal labor. The Federation for American Immigration Reform announced that it's costing tax payers $12 billion per year to educate children of illegals in primary and secondary grades and $1 billion per year to reimburse hospitals (which are being forced to curtail public emergency services) for services rendered to illegals. And more than half the Hispanic students in S. California drop out before graduation. The Federal Bureau of Prisons announced that 30% of federal inmates are not US citizens and the daily $63 it spends on each one amounts to a tax payer bill of $3 million PER DAY. Public school districts are facing insolvency. The havoc wrought by the crime and violence brought to us by the drug cartel exceeds the billions mark. Unlike all previous (legal) immigrants we have created a permanent underclass and subculture that is not being - and has little desire to be - assimilated. WE are now expected to live in a Balkanized society and be bi-lingual. Did any of you see the senatorial buffoons today on C-span as debated immigration? They were trying to see who could out-amnesty whom. And Lindsay Graham should get the RINO of the year award for grinning like a simpleton as he endorsed the McCain/Kennedy amnesty bill. Did ANY of these pols - or George Bush - ever stumble across Article IV, Section 4 of the Constitution which says, "The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them AGAINST INVASION." Sunday night Drudge had on his 50 state radio broadcast an Hispanic who stated that we're "taking back the country a few houses and a few blocks at a time." And then - most exasperating - the Dems are pandering for the free votes and Republican business interests for the cheap labor. NEVER has the mass of citizens been so opposed to a coterie of unprincipled politicians who are willing to ruin the nation for personal power and partisan gain. I know many will think this is hype but I'd like to hear some serious ideas about what we can do -- the future of the nation is at stake and we can't just rearrange the proverbial deck chairs of the Titanic. Any such thoughts would be welcome.
Sorry to say it, but we have unwittingly elected French-style surrender monkeys to the US Senate.
This is an issue where the politicos in Washington are running scared. The demonstrations that took place the other day are probably making them shake in their boots. They don't care what the majority of Americans think today--they are looking toward the day after tommorrow, with an anticipated Hispanic majority. Of course, their actions are making this MORE, not LESS, likely. In effect, they are assuming that there is no way to solve this problem, so they are rolling over and surrendering. The acid test (as always) is that Ted Kennedy praised the legislation.
It really burns me everytime one of the guys gets on the tube and says: "well, we tried enforcement, but it did't work". Wrong, Clyde. Enforcement at the border was tried (albeit, halfheartedly), but enforcement in the heartland was completely ignored. And that is the crux of the problem. We are too gutless to enforce our own laws, because someone might see us doing it and call us racists. Well, boo hoo.
Frankly, it may be too late to save the country as well know it. The current generation of politicans are too weak-kneed and most Americans are too apathetic--preoccupied working 14 hour days to pay taxes. America will become a banana republic because the US Senate refuses to listen to a majority of its citizens.
Need we say more? We are being sold down the river by President Bush and the RINO Party.
