. . . when a Port Authority cop checked licenses and found his Immigration and Naturalization Service warrant. After Qureshi had skipped a residency-status hearing in 2000, a deportation order was issued. He's being held pending INS processing.

Here's some irony for you . . .

If this was a New York City cop who had caught this guy instead of a Port Authority officer, the cop would have been prohibited from turning him over to the INS under New York City's "sanctuary" rules for municipal employees. This rule was implemented back in the 1980s and upheld by every administration since then even though Federal law specifically prohibits this kind of nonsense.

(Just in case anyone was wondering why the notion that a half-@ssed dingbat like Rudy Giuliani would be an ideal president to prosecute a "war on terror" is such a joke.)
