DALLAS Students from four Dallas high schools have walked out of morning classes today and marched to an Oak Cliff park to rally for rights for illegal immigrants.

There's no word on how many students are participating in the demonstration. But K-X-A-S T-V in Fort Worth reports police are blocking off traffic in and around Kiest Park in the Oak Cliff section of southwest Dallas.

The station reports students from Sunset, Kimball, Adamson and Molina high schools are marching to the park.

On Saturday, about 15-hundred people marched in downtown Dallas in support of immigrant rights.

This reminds me of something that happened when I was little (in the mid 70s). The "chicano/brown power" movement had cropped up at the high school in my small home town. Some of the boys refused to stand up when the Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Most of them had after-school jobs with my dad's side business. He fired them all. The next week, (after my dad had to explain to their parents why they'd been fired), they tried it again. One of the boys' dads showed up (probably a 1st generation American himself) to peek through the classroom door to see if his kid would stand up during the Pledge. When the kid refused to stand, the dad stormed into the classroom and whipped his teenage son with a belt RIGHT THERE IN FRONT OF EVERYONE.
Ah, those were the days.

The INS should be holding a march to Mexico for all the illegals from these schools.

Maybe its time that Americans marched against illegals.

Were you so naive as to think there wouldn't be any pushback??

They should be asked the same thing, should they not?

So if one of these yoots are injured in a march when they are supposed to be in school, can their parents sue for damages?

I love it, Che Guevarra! That's like associating your movement with Joe Stalin.

I think I'll go to another country, illegally, and then march in protest at their immigration policies and see how long I am actually on the street! Even Mexico would throw you in the can for overstaying your VACATION, let alone domiciling in their country w/o a visa.

Probably one or two from each school. The rest saw a ready opportunity to get a day off...

At least that's how it worked for me in the late 60's.

Kids glad to have any excuse to get out of school, leftist media reports it as legitimate protest. Yawn.

When kids protest the military by refusing their holiday and going to school on Veterans Day, wake me up.

My sister lived on St. Maarten for 25 yeras. She owned a house and a business. She let her working papers expire. Bye Bye to everything.

That's how they write copy meant for radio. It's standard Associated Press Style (which should be edited prior to being published in print or on the web).

NO, students from TAX PAYERS schools walked out from a schooling institution that is funded with TAX PAYERS money. They were protesting because the United States will not bendover for criminals.

Will these kids get zero's for the unexcused absence? I do not think kids skipping school to protest (or for any other reason) is a good thing.

My son would get some serious grounding time. Kids do not leave school en masse unless they know there will be no serious consequences at school or at home.

I am a parent. In spite of what my own kids believe, at one time I was a high school kid. I know how the game is played. Been there, done that.

I wonder how many kids protested because this is what they believed and how many went along for the fun?
