A wounded warrior By Tim Maxwell, Tim Maxwell is stationed at Camp Lejeune, N.C. E-mail: woundedteam@sempermax. com. I AM A MARINE — a lieutenant colonel. I know about war. I have studied it for more than 20 years. I have been deployed overseas six times. Three times since 9/11. Recently, I learned all about another part of war. I was badly wounded during a mortar attack in Iraq in October 2004.

Keep kleenex handy. America is so blessed to have real men like this sacrifice so much for all of us. We have to return the favor when they fall or get hurt.

And that is because in the Corps, we really learn to be part of a team. Not like sports, where players switch teams for more money. I am talking about a life-and-death team. Warriors will not switch teams — if they can help it.

Wow. Wonderful article. God bless our brave warriors!

Thank you for sharing..... one positive about "this war" is that we are having the opportunity to see a new "greatest generation" in the making - those who set new standards for human behavior for their generation. God Bless Our Troops...

when I think what our warriors that are doing the heavy lifting go through and how some of the people, including politicians, in this country respond, it disgusts me.

"Keep kleenex handy. America is so blessed to have real men like this sacrifice so much for all of us. We have to return the favor when they fall or get hurt."

You should have posted that at the beginning of the post, not the end. I didn't see it until I had read the article, and it is really, really blurry right now...

I am thanking God right now for two things: for people like this guy, and all his brothers and sisters in arms, and for not getting hurt like this when I was on active duty. Lord, please comfort and heal him, and them... We need them back ASAP!

I respect all members of the U.S. Armed Forces.

However, not to belittle any other branch of service, Marines are of a different breed.
