Generally favorable to immigration -- as though it is valuable in and of itself without regard to whether the "immigrants" can or intend to assimilate.
At the same time claiming that assimilation is the duty of immigrants. AND it is the duty of Americans to help immigrants assimilate.
Most disagreeable statement so far -- each wave of immigration adds 'vitality'.
Most agreeable statement so far -- immigrants need to learn English!

"America should not have to chose between being a welcoming society or a lawful society...
We must secure the border."
Rhetoric 101.
Go to Laredo, El Paso, McAllen and Brownsville and close the border to anyone but legal immigrants Mr. President!

Interesting how he always fails to mention that, up until recently, we are a nation of legal immigrants. It's only since the 80's that the illegal aspect of it has gotten out of control.

I agree with you.. personally I feel the answer lies somewhere in between both thoughts.. (on one hand, a forced march to the border of all illegals, on the other, giving them all amnesty..)

There is nothing impossible about controlling our borders. There is only the lack of political will.
Its a heck of a lot cheaper than tolerating them.

That's to cover the really really stupid and bad things he has planned on illegal immigration.

Immigration is a sign of a successful nation.. Immigration to the tune of 15 million is the sign of an invasion.

Bush is making a fool of himself when he demands that nations take back their illegal entrants.......and excludes mexico from that demand.
I support W on most all issues, but on this one he is as bad a leader as Al Gore and John Kerry.

No on interior enforcement, quoting a bunch of numbers of arrests, montly gang arrests.

When someone breaks the law to come into our country, it's not "immigration," anymore than it's a "loan" when a bank robber holds up a bank.
They're not "immigrants" they're "criminals."

Bush in his own verbally circuitous way, is laying the groundwork for amnesty. You can take that to the bank.

"He did say we're a nation of immigrants. And we are." My ancestors came here legally and quickly became American patriots, unlike the hordes we've witnessed on America's streets the past few days. How about yours?

He is spending a lot of time on border security and on catching and dealing properly with illegals. He's also dealing with enforcement.
He's explained the problems with enforcement in the past.
He's definitely dealing with this, but the negativity and bile here is so thick I can hardly see the screen.

Bush isn't trying to solve the problem. He's contributing to it to the point of being the problems sponsor.
