CENTENNIAL, Colo. -- The mother of a 10-year-old boy who lost his arm in a pit bull attack pleaded guilty Wednesday to a felony child abuse count and a misdemeanor count of cruelty to animals.
Renee Muniz, 37, made her plea in exchange for prosecutors dropping two other charges -- including a misdemeanor count of owning a dangerous dog.

These dogs failed the temperment test that the Pits rank so highly on according to their proponents. As usual the owner claims the "dogs never displayed any signs of aggression".

There was a guy in my town who owned three pit bulls and he always ranted that his dogs are trained properly and wouldn't harm a fly yada yada yada...
One day two of the dogs attacked his mail man and put the guy in the hospital for three months.
After that he made the "never displayed aggression" speech.

Owning a pitbull is like waving a load gun around.

It seems that most of these attacks occur when the owner is not in the dog's presence which should be the red flag for anyone considering owning that breed that such a dog most likely will require constant supervision.
I have basset hound that can't get out of her own way, I put her on her run in the front yard and whenever a stranger or anyone else comes on the property, she greets them as if they were her owner. Dumbass dog.

It's almost as if the owners have the "it won't happen to me " syndrome. These are animals and their behavior is based on instict which no amount of love or training can completely eleminate.

Yep, a mass denial of the breed's "fighting dog" genetics.
Seems like more owners are being held criminally liable for their foolish breed ownership decision when one goes off lately.
