Sean Hannity has made border security and illegal immigration a major cause, spending time at and broadcasting shows from our border with Mexico. Give GMA credit for having Hannity on this morning to discuss the issues. That said, Charlie Gibson put on a display of bleeding-heart liberalism at its most predictable, confusing compassion with tolerance of criminality.
Gibson wasted no time: "Let's start with the House bill. It would build a wall along our southern border, turn 12 million people into felons and make it criminal to give an illegal immigrant help. Is that what this country is about?"
Shot back Hannity: "I think this country is about laws and the rule of law and I think you've got to come into this country and do it the way my grandparents did it, which is legal."
Gibson then deployed the Lazarus Gambit, quoting "but we're about give me your tired, your huddled masses."
Hannity: "Absolutely. And everyone that came through Ellis Island came here legally." Bingo!

Exactly Hannity, come into this country in the light of day like all European immigrants did, obey all our laws respect us and our language and learn to speak english, APPLY for citizenship, don't be a leech with fake documentation and we will gladly welcome you.
On the other hand sneak in like rats, immediately apply for welfare and get it with false documentation, disrespect and hate all Americans and America, don't intend to speak english, (for english press one etc), bring in illnesses, take jobs Americans can and will do maybe for a FEW bucks more than your slimy self, and you are not only not welcome you are a scourge on all America.

Ever get the feeling that the "border situation discussions" will dwarf the discussions of ports & nominees! ;-)

Laws are laws and that's it! Just because we have ten's or hundred's of thousands protesting does not change right from wrong! What next? What if ten thousand drug dealers or ten thousand pedophiles protest? Should we then change the laws that they don't like?

I hate the today show and good morning america also, but it ticks me off when I miss these great confrontations.
Hannity is not the sharpest knife in the drawer but he knows how to handle a confrontation. I guess it is the Irish in him.

Can't say Hannity's not consistent. He wanted to send Elian back to Cuba too.
Of course, he changed his mind, but....

"turn 12 million people into felons"
They made themselves felons when they entered this nation illegally.

"I can tell you from my point of view this is a crisis situation."
At least three of the shows playing on the pre-school TV channel (Sprout) my 4-year old watches has Spanish lessons, teaching the yound kids a word hear, a phrase there. The crisis situation is the immigrants are not assimilation, they are forcing us to.

And once again, I see myself of the opinion of the minority view in here.
Kosovo (stop ethnic cleansing)...Elian (Father's rights)...SCOTUS nominees (Trust Prez. Bush)...and now this.
Sigh...am I really conservative?
the vast majority of responses I read on this topic only shows just how many YAHOOS are registered Freepers.
I'm not stupid, dumbass or spoogy...or worse names as I've been called in here.
I have an education, a daughter in Yale law school and 2 sons at Indiana and Emory.
They didn't get ALL their brains from their mother.
But I do confess. I eat marshmallow peeps. Five at a time...like a banana. ;^)

My point is that I see a lot of redneck behavior in here trying to disguise itself as patriotism.
My point is that these immigrants...illegal or otherwise...are here because we need them as much as they need us.
The vast majority of them are Christian (catholic). They procreate. They appreciate the opportunities this country affords...unlike others who would rather just wait for the 1st of the month for the check.
They work hard. For less money. Their children..in a generation will have no allegiance to Mexico or Central American. They will be honest hard-working citizens of the greatest country this world has ever seen.
They contribute to the local economies much more than their cost to us.
That's my point.
