Well, certainly the situation among the Kurds is different, So that's about one third of Iraq under control for sure. Obviously, the Shia/ Sunni pot is being stirred.
But except for the riots that lasted about a week, most of the violence is by Sunni/ Al Queda terrorist squads. I don't think car bombs prove that all of Iraqi society is ignorant or unready for democracy.
It's typical left wing thinking that when someone blows up innicent people witha car bomb we hear "Gee, those people must not be ready for democracy" instead of "Hunt down the animals that killed those innocent people!" I don't blame the victims for an act of terrorism.
