PRESIDENTIAL NEWS OF THE DAY: The President and First Lady, accompanied by the Secretary of State, returned from Camp David earlier today. It will be a momentous week in Washington as the Supreme Court hears oral arguments on a military commissions case, and the Senate Judiciary Committee holds a hearing on Sen. Russ Feingold's call to censure the President over the wiretap controversy. In this mix of venality and stupidity, there is some happier news:
Cincinnati, OH (Sports Network) - The Cincinnati Reds announced Friday that President George W. Bush will throw out the first pitch prior to the Reds' opening game against the Chicago Cubs on Monday April 3, at 2:10 p.m. (et) at Great American Ball Park.President Bush's father, George Herbert Walker Bush, threw out the first pitch at the inaugural regular-season game at Great American Ball Park in 2003.
George W. Bush will be the first sitting president ever to throw out an opening day first pitch in the city of Cincinnati and just the second sitting president to attend a baseball game in the Queen City, William Howard Taft being the other in 1912.

Sunday, March 26, 2006Seized by U.S. forces in Afghanistan and imprisoned at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Osama bin Laden's former chauffeur is now seeking victory over President Bush in a new arena: the Supreme Court.
In oral arguments Tuesday, an attorney for Salim Ahmed Hamdan will ask the justices to declare unconstitutional the U.S. military commission that plans to try him for conspiring with his former boss to carry out terrorist attacks.
This story is great! Vice President Cheney took on the Democrats for their attacks on the President over the wiretap matter.
Cheney on attack after Dems call Bush 'dangerously incompetent' (click title link to read complete story)
Saturday, March 25, 2006 6:46 PM CSTORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - Vice President Dick Cheney blasted Democrats for opposing provisions of the Patriot Act and criticizing President Bush's approval of secret wiretaps for domestic surveillance at a fundraising lunch Friday.
Two days after Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid called Bush dangerously incompetent, Cheney said if Democrats were capable of handling the war on terror, Then I ought to be singing on American Idol.
The president and I welcome the debate, because every voter in America needs to know how the leaders of the Democratic party view the war on terror, he said at the event for U.S. Rep. Ric Keller, R-Orlando.
THE WEEK AHEAD: Not much news available today about next week's presidential schedule. I was only able to find this: President Bush will welcome President Olusegun Obasanjo of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to the White House March 29.
I'm pretty sure she said it was the first interview she had ever done from her office.
That explains it. The site was the First Lady's office in the east wing of the White House. It's a place we don't see very often.
Speaking of the First Lady, did you see the horrible article about her? http://www.iht.com/articles/2006/03/26/news/letter.php They're not content with bashing the President, now they feel the need to portray his sweet, beautiful, graceful wife as mean and vindictive.
On 3.24.06 it was taped, per this:

AGREED!! I have turned his words against President Bush around and applied them to him, thus my tagline.
I am referring primarily to CFR and its unconstitutionality, but I went back to the Senate hearings on Chief Justice Roberts and Justice Alito. He was one of those "lawyers" who couldn't lawyer his way out of a paper bag with those two!
Additionally, most of his questions were self-serving, ignorant garbage that had to do with the constitutionality of the wiretaps.
As a Wisconsinite, let me take this opportunity (once again!) to apologize to you all for Feingold.
Pick Your Team
Here's a thought-provoking brain teaser. Caution: this one creates great mental and visual images.
You have been assigned a very dangerous mission to root out a nest of terrorists. The mission is so critical that the survival of the free world is at stake and dependent on your successful completion. You must select your team members from the following available personnel:
a.) President Bush
b.) Teddy Kennedy
c.) Condi Rice
d.) Nancy Pelosi
e.) Vice President Cheney
f.) Harry Reid
g.) Donald Rumsfeld
h.) Russ Feingold
Here is the kicker. Due to severe shortages of manpower (people-power, for the politically correct), you can only choose four out of the eight for the mission and for covering your back. The remaining four not chosen are desperately needed to deal in daily garbage distribution. Remember, excellence, tenacity, courage, and a steadfast, rock-solid team is of the utmost importance in order to be successful. Pick your team!
Can't listen? Get a radio recorder, set it up to record, convert or capture it in the format of your choice, WMA, MP3, etc.
I've been researching the radio thingy because I can't sit here at my PC for 3 hours, 5 days a week, no matter how much fun it is to have Tony participate on the live thread.
I've got other things I have to get done in my life, especially with tax day looming large, and some papers in an unmarked, as yet unopened box!!! LOL!
ME TOO! DITTO! WELL SAID EVEN!
Thanks a lot, Truthy! I really can't spend 3 hrs. at my computer - except on nasty days in the dead of winter.
I hadn't thought of radio recorders, because I have a Mac, and the recorders I've seen are Win. The Mac downloads have always pushed music more.
But I just did a Google, and I see that there are Mac recorders, and I should be able to find one that lets me make a CD that I can play in my car.
That would be a great substitute for Tony Live.
