Southern Californians protest nothing...usually. The lifestyle is as wide-open and apathetic as its sprawl of homes from the Mexican border north into Ventura County. I'm a native Angeleno, which means I was born in Los Angeles -- East Los Angeles to be exact, so don't bull me about being rooted somewhere else.
...
There are two main reasons I left Los Angeles in 1991: Rampant crime and the influx of illegal aliens from Mexico -- and those two reasons are connected statistics show. Now, on 25 March 2006, the illegal aliens took their stomp to the streets of Los Angeles with what seems to be a clear message: "We are here, we are illegal, and proud to be Mexican."
Anyone who disagrees is called a racist.

Why don't I see the Mexican flag burning?
After the Lousiana Purchase (that was considered void though the Spanish point of view, since the French had no right to sell that colony) USA wanted to claim as part of Louisiana all the land between the Missisipi River and the Rio Grande and Spain considered that if USA had bought anything at all, it was only a strip of land, California was never disputed
It's also funny that you consider that USA had a right to inherit the claims of the Thirteen colonies, yet Mexico didn't had a right to inherit the land owned by New Spain
They'd be crying that we had to help as a humanitarian thing.
Support our Minutemen Patriots!
Be Ever Vigilant!
Give it time. People are pissed.
Wow, that's interesting stuff (which would be called "heretical" if you spouted it in Mexico)! :-)
I will save those observations for future reference. Thanks again!
South Carolina, in fact, still had Spanish initiated claims of its own, and the Scots, in Georgia, simply did not recognize British writ ~ not then, not now.
Each of the colonies had sufficient land claims from sea to sea that they surrendered them to the new United States. In any case, Mexican claims to the same territories upon the abandonment of North America by Spain were not as compelling as historic American claims to the same places. Mexico is, after all, NOT Spain, and Manifest Destiny didn't just pop out of thin air.
BTW, something like 90% of all the fancy bean production in the United States is purchased by Mexico. Consequently, the diet of even the poorest people has improved dramatically over the last few decades.
"North Carolina had started out as a Proprietorship, and the Proprietors lost few of their prerogatives and rights in the reorganization of the British colonies that occurred in the late 1600s."
The Lords Proprietors held on far too long, never accomplishing much due to squabbling among themselves, while the colony became something of a haven for runaways of every sort: numerous persecuted religious sects, runaway indentured servants, runaway slaves, pirates ... it was a near anarchy, and much of the colony/state remained in many ways a "frontier" into the nineteenth century. As a result, the political independent streak here runs pretty deep, going back to the earliest colonial times as it does.
1. The Colonies had a separate corporate existence from the UK prior to the creation of the British colonial service and New England in the late 1600s.
2. The Treaty of Paris recognized each of the colonies as an independent country, but when Mexico was created as a nation state and demanded the cession of lands and wealth on the part of Spain each of its provinces was not recognized as an independent country. Mexico's claims did not build on Spain's claims ~ they were entirely new, as was Mexico.
3. The United States accepted land claims from the constituent states when they joined together in the Confederation. However those claims might be asserted, the states granted them to the US government, and it accepted them for assertion at whatever time might be appropriate in accordance with conditions established by the constituent states (again, independent nations).
4. Mexico already had a sea to sea situation going. The United States sought the same thing.
At the time Mexico was the ascendant nation, not the USA, and it had all of the political and social advantages desired by the USA. With Certainty the young United States was entitled to seek equality with Mexico in the North American venue, even at the expense of Mexico.
The Minutemen where associated with racists organizations before they went to the boards they distanced themselves with those groups. They cleaned themselves up and I am happy they did.
We are not sure what they claimed, but it was probably everything they could see, or that they'd heard about.
"Even further ~ most of the Scots dumped overboard in chains down here on the Potomac back in the early 1700s made the long march to North Carolina and created their own country."
In the general vicinity of Scotland County. I've been told that there are more people of Scottish descent in NC than there are in Scotland, and do believe it. And then, you have another attempt in NC, at creating an independent state, Franklin, that few people have ever heard anything about.
"Coming to agreements" are wise words Arasina.
These difficulties we face together will best be resolved with that special goal in mind.
As the greatest country on earth, with the most welcome and open arms we ,together with our leaders will find ways to bring about harmony and wonderful outcomes...it really helps to have divine guidance as we go...but our faith is essential.
I am not averse to the immigration but There should be no availability of any welfare services at all to noncitizens or those not on immigration visas. Citizenship should be difficult to attain, time consuming, and require a reasonable command of English and a better education in American history than is available in most government schools today. Government publication should be only in English. Government schools should teach only in English. Conversely there should be no restrictions on language used or services rendered by private entities.
because of lack of public records in Mexico, most don't know where they came from, so the default is to say they're Aztecs.
