Freerepublic banned in Argentina (vanity)

Posted on 03/26/2006 1:38:50 PM PST by Cementjungle

This may not be of interest to many, but I found it interesting. I´m on vacation in Argentina (Buonos Aires) and have found that FreeRebublic is banned at many of the Internet Cafes.

Fortunately, I can use Remote Desktop to get to my PC at home and browse from there.

I also tried democraticunderground.com, and that does work. What did FreeRepublic.com ever do to Argentina?!

I wouldn't be surprised to find that it's banned or blocked in Britain, Canada, France or Germany also.

The more pressure there is on the stultifying center-left socialist consensus in these countries, the more authoritarian they become. Any dissent from center-left orthodoxy is 'fascism' or 'hate speech'.

Jim Rob should tag FR as porn. It'll be welcomed.

Sometimes, in the quest for the quick, cheap laugh, FReepers upset the geopolitical balance of the hemisphere.

Strange, I thought FR would be banned in Venezuela before Argentina. Come to thinkof it, all of South America is a Socialist garbage DUmp any way!

Try DU, Stormfront, Ogrish, etc.

Maybe it's not uniform. I wouldn't be surprised if it's Venezuela. Argentina, OTOH, is interesting.

First sentence, last line of the original thread that started this all.

BTW, How was Argentina? Is their economy any better than it was a couple of years ago? Have any Maté while you were there?

I've always wanted to do an extended tour of South America -- especially Argentina and Brazil.

I may be heading there this winter - I'll have to put a Free Republic.com sticker on my luggage. :)
