when I served, quite a few times our own soldiers were given disinformation on new weapons we were issued.I'm sure they didn't want someone to get drunk and spill the beens.Secret clearance or above, many times before the class was given, was a prerequisite. Some times I was amazed at what the Govt.didn't want to be known!Even more amazing was,I could learn more about it in a publication!

Looks like an old time "rice bowl" report - don't cancel my expensive program/project/unit/pet whatever, too important to the war effort don't cha know?
So, in too many cases, OPSEC takes a second place to anything to help secure continued funding....blech!

If you think that's neat, it has just been made public that they plan to start experimenting with putting special GPS equipment in US military vehicles to transmit a 'friend' signal to the JSTARS.

I predict those vehicles will be used like the Palestinian terrorists use U.N. ambulances as transportation to and from terrorist engagements. We just had a report of Iraqi army personnel capturing and torturing Iraqis of a different Islamic sect in an underground bunker. You can bet some of these people will be improperly trusted with access to these "friend" vehicles.
