Rep. James Sensenbrenner, R-Wisc., says he's not going to be deterred by the wave of demonstrations protesting his bill to crack down on illegal immigration.

Responding to a pro-illegal immigration demonstration in Milwaukee on Thursday, Sensenbrenner called the protest "impressive," but added: "Many have tried to confuse the difference between legal and illegal immigration."

Maybe our borders are out of control and the Feds can't find hardly any illegal aliens in this country,... but somebody can find and mobilize 500,000 illegal aliens in the streets of L.A. (with flags, signs, and permits) and huge crowds of others all over the country for a pro-Mexican, pro-illegal alien rally on the same day and at the same time. And ICE somehow completely misses the events and totally ignores an illegal population the size of South Dakota openly running around the streets.

Surreal.

We no longer have a country. We have a nationwide Home Depot parking lot filled with people demanding an under the table job, "free" medical care and the rights of an American citizen!

I think the demonstrations have had a positive effect in scaring the daylights out of Americans.

Yep. A lot of wasted energy, IMO. If the illegals would go home and spend this much energy on reforming the corruption in their own countries of origin illegal immigration would not be an issue here.

This issue will do more to shape the Future of USA than any other including the WOT..

How right you are. However, fanatic adherents to Islam, after protesting 'offensive cartoons' and causing deaths at some of those demonstrations, are still called members of 'The Religion of Peace'. Looks like the 'immigrants' whose demands we witnessed yesterday will still be considered peaceful negotiators who are 'entitled' to act with criminal intent but not be called unlawful.

Our nation's bounty is not their pirates' booty and this big game of semantics that our leaders are playing with us should not be tolerated.

It is not so much the wealth of our Nation I worry about as it is the very foundations of our Government as set out by the founding fathers..These immigrants have no allegiance to the ideals of this country, and sadly many in power seem to be on the road to support the weakening of the American system.

Bush has no power in this debate

This is absolutely and totally untrue. No further laws or action by Congress is needed for the President to enforce our laws against illegal immigration and hiring illegal immigrants. The President, as chief of the executive branch of this self-governing nation took an oath of office to faithfully execute our democratically enacted laws and he has chosen not to do this on immigration.

It is President Bush's choice, and nothing else, that is preventing the enforcement of the laws the vast majority of Americans want enforced. He already has -- and has always had -- all the power he needs to enforce our laws as he well demonstrated after 9-11 with the rapid round-ups of muslim radicals virtually all of whom were charged with immigration violations! We all understand that a few high profile prosecutions of employers of illegal aliens would end the job lure and would go a long way toward solving the problem without the need for draconian round-ups of illegals, but under the Bush Administration such prosecutions of employers has all but stopped.

By his actions President Bush has renounced any pretense of believing in democracy and self-government here in America while hypocritically promoting it in Iraq and around the world.

Nonsense. Create Pressure on Reid et al. They would fold if the pressure were on, and the democrats had to sustain their filibuster. The glare of sunlight would frighten them.

I suspect you are a mole and counsel weakness and impotence because you are one with the left.

Nice job. A picture is worth a thousand words.....

If it's the right picture... Trying to draw an analogy between those two pictures is a little strange, unless the woman isn't really the mother of the baby.

That's not Elian's father holding on to him in that pic. The guy with the rifle was trying to get Elian away from the man so the government could send him home to his father in another country.

Reid has all the power. It takes 60 senators to stop a filibuster and reid said he will filibuster any bill that doesn't have amnesty

If Reid filibusters, it will be a blood-bath for the democRATS at the polls in November. People are mad as hell about this.

Whether we like it or not, the children of illegal aliens consider the USA their home.

They attend our schools. They are medically treated by our doctors and hospitals. They play sports for the schools they attend...even community colleges(Montgomery Co., Maryland).

The parents of these children are hard-working and display a family atmosphere and commitment you never see anymore among legal citizens of every other ethnic origin.

Are you going to be the bad guy who with a stroke of a pen, rips that life away from them and sends them back to squalor in their home country?

Get real. Without the illegal, we are doomed economically and will end up like Europe is today....dying off.

The real trick here is to garner that group as a voting bloc...beat the stupid Democrats to the punch and embrace them.

There is no evidence or screams coming from any other ethnic minority that feel they are being cheated out of work. If there is, show them to me.

Cheers!

I wonder, how many "illegals" will come forward, if amnesty is granted....why should they register, they have it all as it is...health, tax free income, etc etc, a majority are criminals, fleeing Mexico....I suggest, that they will stay "illegal"...invisible to the tax-man, and police.

It is not so much the wealth of our Nation I worry about as it is the very foundations of our Government as set out by the founding fathers.

That's exactly what I meant by 'our nation's bounty'. The fruits of our labor and that of our founders. They are attempting to rob us of our Republic and supplant it with Socialism. (All with the approval of Global Mama and One World Papa.)

Perhaps those who protested yesterday should be asked to state, in English, "I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." They obviously have no allegiance to this country except for sucking its lifeblood.

I'm not impressed or intimidated by the numbers of anarchists. I suspect they did more to harden resolve against them.

I hope they scare Republicans into actually reading the positions of the primary candidates.
