Bush shifts emphasis to safe borders
The Washington Times ^ | 03/26/06 | Stephen Dinan

President Bush, stepping up his focus on border security in the run-up to the Senate immigration debate this week, yesterday used his weekly radio address to tout increased spending on related law enforcement.

"Comprehensive immigration reform begins with securing our borders," Mr. Bush said.

In recent weeks, Mr. Bush has put far more emphasis on enforcement in an effort to convince lawmakers he is serious about the issue, even as he tries to win passage of a guest-worker program.

If President Bush was serious about the issue, he would not be promoting a guest-worker shamnesty program.

He would by executive order require all government law enforcement to actually enforce existing immigration laws.

Fat chance of that happening with Señor Gonzales as Attorney General

and the political fortunes of Abogado George P. Bush depending on more illegals.

This administration's immigration policy can be summed up by México en la Piel.

The illegal aliens and the criminals who hire them and the criminals who harbor them are getting out in the street making their desires known. It is way past time those of us who support the rule of law and secure borders did the same.

Join Veterans for Secure Borders, The Minuteman Project, Latino Americans for Immigration Reform, Mothers Against Illegal Aliens, and other groups protesting amnesty for these criminals, and demanding the government protect our borders.

FReepers should be at this rally in strength. Saturday, May 6, in Crawford, TX.

Amnesty for Illegals is Coming: Tell the Senate to STOP It!

According to our friend Phyliss Schlafly of Eagle Forum, "Behind closed doors late last week, members of the Senate Judiciary Committee negotiated a plan to grant amnesty to millions of illegal aliens and import even more foreign workers to take American jobs! Over the past three weeks, the committee has been marking up Senator Specter's bill, the Chairman's Mark, which includes a massive guest worker program among weak border security measures."

Facing pressure from Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist to pass an immigration bill out of committee before his March 27 deadline and a committee deadlocked on controversial guest worker provisions, Senate Judiciary Chairman Arlen Specter (R-PA) began negotiating a behind closed doors compromise with Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-MA).

"Under the compromise," says Schlafly, "Senator Specter announced that Senators Cornyn (R-TX) and Kennedy had agreed to allow workers to stay for two years, go home for one year, and then return for six years, capping the number annually at 400,000, and allowing a path to permanent legal residence for the 12 million illegal aliens currently here."

Even more baffling is that the details of this massive plan will not be worked out in front of the American public in the committee process, but in closed negotiating sessions between Senate staff. Senators will then return for one day of review and then vote the bill out on Monday, March 27.

THIS IS INSANE! Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee should NOT put Ted Kennedy in charge of immigration reform! Schlafly even says that Republican Judiciary Committee Senators, including Brownback, Hatch, Cornyn, Kyl, DeWine, and Graham, are rumored to be supporting the Kennedy Amnesty!

The grassroots of America -- that's YOU and ME -- MUST stop this NOW... and we've got a GREAT way to do that!

TAKE ACTION: The U.S. House recently passed Rep. James Sensenbrenner's bill, the "Border Protection, Antiterrorism, and Illegal Immigration Control Act" (H.R. 4437). This bill, which passed WITHOUT any "guest worker" amnesty provisions attached, is now sitting in the Senate -- and THAT is the bill they need to pass!

We need to FLOOD the Senate with faxes before they return. They MUST KNOW that you want them to enforce our present laws against illegal immigration, instead of rewarding the illegals that are already here. And they MUST KNOW that you want them to IGNORE the lobbying efforts of foreigners who have said they support even MORE immigration by "undocumented workers" (meaning: illegal immigrants).

THEY THINK YOU DON'T CARE. Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, who called measures like Kennedy's bill a "pro illegal immigration bill," said it's possible such a bill could pass because "Congress has insulated itself from the views of the American people on this issue for the last 10 years."

It is CRITICAL that you ACT TODAY! If we can FLOOD the offices of these Senators with TENS OF THOUSANDS of faxes, demanding that they REJECT any "guest worker" amnesty bill, we CAN stop Specter's and Kennedy's dangerous bill dead in its tracks. But we need YOUR help. Send your Blast Faxes to EVERY SINGLE ONE of the Judiciary Committee Senators -- plus BOTH of your own Senators -- AT ONCE for just $14, RIGHT NOW

https://secure.responseenterprises.com/amnesty2/?a=22

NOTE: We ARE having an effect on this issue up on Capitol Hill. We were able to get an amnesty-free bill through the U.S. House -- and we're so effective, far-left groups like People For the American Way are targeting us on this very issue (we're in good company -- they put us in with Phyllis Schlafly, Michelle Malkin, Paul Weyrich, Gary Bauer and the Minutemen). Now is NOT the time to pull back -- we CAN win this important issue!

As always, you can also send a FREE message to your Senators and Congressman, telling them to REJECT this amnesty bill, and enforce the immigration laws that are already on the books. Just go to

http://capwiz.com/sicminc/issues/alert/?alertid=8486336&type=CO now.

"Step one, focus on enforcing the border," he told an audience in Cleveland. "When we find people, [we] send them home, so that the work of our Border Patrol is productive work."

Step one? Step one? SIX YEARS on the job and he's burping about step one? Bush is really making me sick now. He's simply a nonentity. Or to the extent he's out for anything he's out only for his own family. He's little more than a criminal himself, as regards US Immigration Law, and is directly responsible for more rapes than any man in US history.

Step one. Coward.

You bet! He would not have ignored his oath and our laws all this time.

Bush's definition of "safe borders" means safe for illegals to cross into the USA unhindered by the Border Patrol or nasty vigilantes like the Minutemen.

The big "L" Libertarians are useless...and carry no weight in national politics. Small "L" libertarians (not members of the Libertarian Party), on the other hand, can impact the GOP.

Neither can do anything running as third party candidates except dilute enough of the GOP vote for a Democrat to win.

Disrespectful bunch of ingrates who hate all Americans and all things American. Americans can and do perform jobs MUCH better than that bunch of good for nothing ingrates. Someone needs to take their mexican flag, tie it around their necks and drag them all back to the border.

I hope your day of reckoning will be a huge success, show those direspectful bunch of ingrates we Americans will not take any of their cr*p anymore!

Good old American ingenuity, we who have fought all our lives for the American dream for OUR FAMILIES can do the jobs better than they could ever hope to. Low wages? You get what you paid for.

Washington needs to remember who their true constituents are who voted them in and who can vote them OUT.

I've met many illegals who love America, are hard-working, and would give anything to become citizens. However, that is not the point.

They are here illegally and the government refuses to enforce our immigration laws. All illegals should be deported and then we start over with a legal process for immigration that serves our interests while protecting national security. A fence/wall/mine field on the southern border would be a step in the right direction.
