WASHINGTON Russian diplomats passed detailed but sometimes inaccurate information about American troop movements to senior Iraqi officials even as U.S. troops closed in on Baghdad during the 2003 invasion, according to a Pentagon study released Friday.
The revelations, based on captured Iraqi intelligence documents, could jeopardize U.S.-Russian relations more than any single event since the end of the Cold War, analysts said. Although they cautioned that Moscow might have an explanation, the analysts said some of the details were so sensitive that they would be difficult for the government of President Vladimir V. Putin to justify.
One of the documents, which purports to be a summary of a letter sent to Saddam Hussein's office by a Russian official, claimed that Moscow had "sources inside the American Central Command in Doha," the U.S. military's headquarters in Qatar during the war.

Am I the only KOOK that still speculates and thearorizes that the danged Rooskies were DEEPly involved with Saddam's Weapons Of Mass Destruction, most certainly including the nuclear weapons so as to be a client/puppet of Russia withwhich to threaten the US AND THE WORLD's ECONOMIC LYNCH-PIN OF OIL SUPPLY?
And furthermore... Am I the only KOOK that believes strongly that the Russians saw to it that the WMD's were snuck into Syria, where they remain today for the same reason they were in Saddam's Iraq in the first place?

Criswell predicts ...
************AN EXCERPT ********************
The other striking thing in Document CMPC-2003-001950 was why the Russians should be particularly worried about the smallest component of the deployment:
4- The ambassador pointed that what worried us (most probably us refers to the Russians) was the increase in the number of planes in Jordan where the number of planes in Al Sallt base was as follows: 24 planes F-16 10 planes Tornado 11 planes Harrier He also mentioned that there were 10 A-10 tank destroyers in the Jordanian base of King Faysal.
Why were these relatively small forces so worrisome? My guess is their location near the Iraq-Syrian border and the composition of these air units were suggestive of support for an air assault attack on traffic to and from Syria. What was moving between Iraq and Syria that would be of concern to the Russians?

You certainly have a way with words!
As to your theory, it wouldn't surprise me although I didn't follow the specifics closely.
By the way... the CA situation is just getting so depressing and demoralizing I can hardly stand those threads anymore, especially with the koolaid inhalers... they gag me!!! (not sayin I won't be back, just waitin for my stomach to settledown, I guess)
Foggy Bottom no doubt sent formal letters of apology along with assurances that we love and trust our Russian "friends".
I just got a reminder from a relative, who is lurker about a previous FR thread on the Russian involvement in Iraq before our invasion in 2003.
'We didn't fly to Baghdad to drink coffee' (Former Russian Generals help Iraq prepare for war)

Gazeta.Ru has obtained sensational evidence proving the involvement of a group of former Soviet generals in preparing the Iraqi army for war against the United States. The generals in question refused to discuss their degree of involvement, but admitted that just before the beginning of the US-led campaign against Iraq they received state awards from the Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein.
Photos, which Gazeta.Ru has acquired, show an awards ceremony (namely awards, our sources emphasized, and not gifts), involving two very prominent Russian generals.
They are retired Soviet officers, Col.-Gen. Vladimir Achalov and Col.-Gen. Igor Maltsev. The former completed his military career as the Soviet deputy defence minister, after being the Air-Borne Troops commander and the first and last Soviet commander-in-chief of the rapid-reaction forces. The latter resigned from the post of the chief of the Main Staff of the Soviet Air Defence. In 1991 both generals backed the GKChP, (the State Committee for the State of Emergency, set up by a group of Gorbachev opponents with the goal of supplanting him and preventing the disintegration of the USSR) and were consequently dismissed from military service.

I really think that one comment is the reason Bush isn't pursuing this. He should eat crow and admit he was wrong about those baby blues of Pooty.
So some lurkers are Kooks too, LOL!
KOOKS.....Keepers of Old Knowledge.
I guess if a person just lurks and never posts a thread or a reply, they have the time to be a keeper of odd knowledge or a KOOK.
Now, I will be in trouble!:)
