Finally, the details have been nailed down!
The Eaker family is inviting FReepers to a Texas Cowboy Memorial Shoot.
The date will be May 6th, starting time will be 10:00 a.m.. The location will be sent via FReepmail (if you are interested in attending send me a message). The cost will be $15.00 per person.
After the shoot, everyone is invited back to The Compound to stuff themselves with TheMom's Kick-Ass Enchilada's (it is advised to wear stretch pants).

I just discovered Bud K knives in Moultrie, Georgia.
I dunno if this counts, but this Friday I shall be dropping a fairly large sum on some Cold Steel blades (chisa katana, synthetic boken, and san-mai magnum tanto)
I'll still unload a few bricks in TC's memory, but my heart's glee will be reflected most truly in a steel edge :)

a "katana" is a Japanese longsword, single-edged and chisel-tipped.
a "chisa" katana is shorter but heavier than a normal katana. For some reason, this blade "spoke" to me when I held it last Friday (I refuse to purchase a long blade without first laying hand on it - just not wise to do otherwise)
a "tanto" is a knife styled like a katana
a "magnum" tanto is a LONG tanto with a sword-like handguard
"san-mai" means "five layers" - a san-mai blade is one forged from five laminated layers of steel, having different mechanical properties, allowing a better balance of hardness and toughness than single-billet forgings
a "boken" is a practice sword
if you want to see what I'm getting, check out
(88BCK) magnum tanto
(13MBXIII) synthetic boken
(92BK) then, go to www.budk.com to see the price differences ;)

guns are wonderful - I own several.
however: they are heavy, loud, delicate, and run out of ammunition.
sometimes a good sword is the tool of choice ;)

I love that picture of the Cowboy - thanks for posting it.

Note the Mattel logo. Yeh, well I figured that part was photo shopped, but that maybe the rest of the weapon actually existed, and that you might bring it.
Plus I was being a little silly myself.
