Campaign (Now) Says (Katherine) Harris Won't Turn To Inheritance.
Orlando Sentinel - harris Campaign ^ | Jim Stratton

In an effort to jump-start her sputtering Senate campaign, Rep. Katherine Harris went on national television invoking the memory of her late father and saying the money he left her will form the financial foundation of her challenge to Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson.

Now the Harris campaign says that's not the case.

Campaign spokeswoman Morgan Dobbs said Thursday that Harris will sell her existing assets rather than rely on money from her father, a bank executive who died in January.

The Republican from Longboat Key appeared on national television saying she would use the money left to her by her father to infuse her campaign with a badly needed shot of financing.

The announcement was the centerpiece of her appearance on Fox News, where Harris reaffirmed her commitment to the race.

"I'm going to take his legacy that he gave to me, everything I have, and I'm going to put it in this race," she told Sean Hannity. "I'm going to commit my legacy from my father -- $10 million."

A moment later, Hannity asked, "This is money from your father?"

"Yes," replied Harris.

I never asked the question. She died in an auto accident. What she was doing moments before the accident, I don't know. I never suggested I did.

That's sounds like a topic for private freepmail.

BTW what are you doing to elect conservatives in VA?

I don't know either. That's why I was asking, so I could be "hip" too. :)

I go to the polls, but since my Congressman is Tom Davis, you could say conservatives aren't too thick on the ground where I live. :)

I'm not 'hip' at all. The most shocking thing I have ever seen on tv was when Arthur Godfrey fired Julius LaRosa on live tv. I've lived a sheltered existence, admittedly one filled with naughty dentist's wives, but that will be all covered in my memoirs! ;-)

I've got to apologize for this to Hitman.
Sorry Hitman, that I mistook you for ClintonFatigued.

Anyway, Clintonfatigued, I'll reiterate -- what is so peculiar about your Jayne Mansfield quote (as well as below-the-belt sleazy and misogynist) is that I'll bet you aren't hip enough to be "reminded" of what Jayne Mansfield was doing "at the end of her career".

Where were you in 1967 to be hip enough to know Mansfield's then-current projects?

Please answer before googling. And cut the chauvinistic Freeperhate against KH.

No problem. I knew you weren't responding to what I said. No biggie - it's an easy mistake to make on FR. Keep on truckin!

"Where were you in 1967 to be hip enough to know Mansfield's then-current projects?"

In 1967, I was in seventh grade, so her career was not my first priority. Since you were apparently hip enough, can you share? My impression was that she was rather passe' by the end of her life.

"... She is starting to remind me of Jayne Mansfield at the end of her career... "

This was Clintonfatigued's quote.

So my response was that I doubted he was hip enough to know what was going on with Jayne Mansfield's career before she died.

Without googling it, and I was not even IN school when she died, I recall she had divorced Mickey Hargitay, married some promoter, was adrift after Marilyn Monroe died (MM was her biggest competitor and she swam in MM's wake) and the age of sleaze and I AM CURIOUS YELLOW had hit Hollywood, making her cutsey 50's era posing revoltingly passe, and that she was in between divorces on a night club tour with her two children; now the famous TV actress Mariska Hargitay on LAW AND ORDER SVU (my fave show, even though producer Dickie Wolf is so leftwing it hurts) were in the back seat of that car when she and her latest beau died horrifically in the accident.

She had been doing the equivalent of indie peek a boo porn films, not making any money, sold her Bel Air or Bev Hills mansion (a pal of mine used to live in the one off Benedict Canyon) and was struggling to make ends meet at the time of her death.

Three year old Mariska was asleep with her brother in the back seat when the car hit the back of a truck on a lonely Southern road somewhere; the kids came out of the accident without a scratch. The reports that Mansfield was decapitated was because of a wig she had been wearing that was stuck on the windshield or something; soon after her death, a law was instated that required trucks to have the rectangular bar on the back of the truck so that if you rear ended one, you the trailer would not slide over the hood of the car and kill you. Mansfield's car hit the back of a truck.

That's what I remember, without Googling, what Mansfield was doing at the end of her career. I have no idea what Clintonfatigued meant by comparing Mansfield to Katherine Harris, of all people.

Maybe Mamie Van Doren? But Freeper chauvinism knows no bounds, I suppose.

I see. She'll sell off her own stuff to fund the campaign. Then she'll replace her stuff with the money from her father's inheritance. But she won't use her father's money for the campaign? Freeper, please....

The only hip thing about it would have been if Clintonfatigued had actually been keeping up with Jayne Mansfield's career -- as he inferred -- before her 1967 death. Now THAT would have been arcane, hip and pretty gay. That's what I was calling him on. Again, what Jayne Mansfield has to do with Katherine Harris -- I have no idea.

Hey bender, wise guy, in case you missed Ms. JulieRnR's post from the chairman, maybe you should find another forum to spam YOUR anti-K.H. "drive-by" LSM's propaganda and their talking points! :..............

Here's what he said about her on Sunday night at the Lincoln Day dinner in Sarasota:
"Harris has an incredible record in Congress and she will make a good senator! And he added that she has accomplished more in her time in Congress than Nelson has in the Senate!

Bender please tell us what kind of similar record you have shared with us since 1998???

This lady shows "cajones," and it seems you are castrated!??!

In the sense of getting publicity, no, I don't think Ken Mehlman is a big enough name. She needs big names that will draw crowds at public events. The RNC chairman talking to the party faithful will not get the job done; in fact, from the sound of things, it didn't even help her campaign all that much financially.

You need to go to the Jordan River and dip yourself 7 times to be healed from YOUR inflamatory anti-K.H.s spamming!!!

I'm happy she's not going to flush her father's money away on some stupid political campaign.

Who cares?
Is it YOUR money or is hers??
More important than her looks discussed and ridiculed here, why not instead help her get elected, because she IS going to be OUR candidate to unseat frigging nelson???

No one's telling her how to spend her money.

The problem lies in the fact that she very explicitly said one thing, and then a few days later, backtracked from it.

And it wasn't a casual toss-aside comment she made on H&C. The statement was her entire reason for being there. It was a well-calculated statement, that she retreated from only days later. That looks really bad.
