Campaign (Now) Says (Katherine) Harris Won't Turn To Inheritance.

In an effort to jump-start her sputtering Senate campaign, Rep. Katherine Harris went on national television invoking the memory of her late father and saying the money he left her will form the financial foundation of her challenge to Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson.
Now the Harris campaign says that's not the case.
Campaign spokeswoman Morgan Dobbs said Thursday that Harris will sell her existing assets rather than rely on money from her father, a bank executive who died in January.
The Republican from Longboat Key appeared on national television saying she would use the money left to her by her father to infuse her campaign with a badly needed shot of financing.
The announcement was the centerpiece of her appearance on Fox News, where Harris reaffirmed her commitment to the race.
"I'm going to take his legacy that he gave to me, everything I have, and I'm going to put it in this race," she told Sean Hannity. "I'm going to commit my legacy from my father -- $10 million."
A moment later, Hannity asked, "This is money from your father?"
"Yes," replied Harris.

I used to think that Democrats were the best at contorting into ridiculous positions to make sense out of what one of their politicos has just said.
Nice too see GOPers are as adept, too.
By the way, it's ridiculous in either case.

I can't believe so many people, who call themselves conservatives, are letting her dangle by a thread like this.

These papers know something many nattering nabobs on FR don't realize......She scares them big time because they realized she can unseat the Wooden Nickel! Or maybe it's just really easy to make fun of Katherine Harris. No nattering nabobs necessary.

Harris needs to stay in Congress. The Senate isn't for her. She has done nothing but stumble in one instance after another.
We need a new Senate candidate.

The media is fabricating chaos re: KH because they can't say anything positive about Bill Nelson. This looks like legitimate, and not fabricated, chaos.

You mean, she's the Adrienne Barbeau of her generation? I think Adrienne Barbeau is the Adrienne Barbeau of our generation, but while she brings the bod to the table, she was only ok looking in her prime and rough looking these days.

I can't believe so many people, who call themselves conservatives, are letting her dangle by a thread like this. Why? She is a poor candidate. Our goal isn't to reward lifetime duty, or that we somehow 'owe' her the nomination to the Senate. I have consistently felt that she is a poor candidate for the Senate and clearly not ready for prime time. I am a conservative and there is no dangling b a thread here: I've rejected her and hope more Floridians do.

That's my whole point. If she is not the one....and there is growing evidence that she ain't gonna make it, it should be an "up or down" thing, and the sooner the better, so that resources are not wasted.

Remember Katherine's 'arched back' performance on Hannity & Colmes a short while back? She reminds me of an older dentist's wife at a cocktail party looking to sneak a little fun on the side under the old man's nose.
Dentist's wives. Look out for 'em!

Martinez also didn't already have a bad public image that he needed to break, wasn't outfundraised 8-1, and wasn't running against an incumbent. He also had a much more inspiring personal story and didn't pull stupid stunts like this.
The situations were totally different, and Martinez ran a much better campaign.

Ohmygod
What the HELL are you people talking about?
Jayne Mansfield and Katherine Harris?
I am completely stunned by the grotesquery of this attack on KH.
She needs our prayers and our votes and our cash. WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU FREEPERS WHO ARE REPEATING MSM ATTACKS BY MAKING UP YOUR OWN????

Since Apr 12, 1999 opines:
Are we having nelson-moles planted right here in our midst???
Yes we are. They are the FReepers who joined a month or two ago who are promoting KH as hard as they can, so Nelson can run against the candidate he knows would be easiest to beat!

Since Jul 2, 1998 reponds:
After lurking since late 1997, I began posting on FR nine months before you first posted. I have been supporting Harris since she ran for Congress in 2002. She is my Congresswoman and I have had many conversations with her about politics and other issues.
She has unseated encumbents before winning the 1994 FL Senate race and also in 1998 when she won the primary against an encumbent republican and then was elected as FL Secretary of State!
The entire country saw her toughness and determination in 2000.......that's the qualities that will make her our Senator in 2006.
WE have heard your complains over & over......the reality is....KH is going to be the GOP candidate and those of us who support her will work our darnest to help her WIN.....no matter what you say or think!

She reminds you of a dentist's wife?
What the hell kind of political discussion on FR has this devolved to?
Insane and grotesque attacks on KH belie a strange and unhealthy sleaziness on the part of Freepers.
I'm stunned by this thread and your 'hits" on KH, 'hitman".
Keep your hits to yourself when talking about Christian GOP conservatives. Or at least give us a cogent political argument.
This is schoolyard namecalling by FREEPERS??? WTF???

Yea, in those pictures where she tries hard to flatter her big knockers she reminds me of a horny dentist's wife hustling for a dalliance on the sly.
I have offered cogent arguments why Katherine Harris stinks in the past. The fact that someone is a Christian and/or a conservative doesn't mean they are a good candidate.
A big part of KH's problem is her image problem. She hasn't done much to improve her image, and in fact the gaffe that is the subject of this thread undermines her credibility even more.
She isn't ready for prime time. Anyone who can't see that just can't, or won't, see.

Just a few thoughts:
1. How does someone who showed so much resolve five years ago become so disorganized?
2. Is there something we don't know which would account for why the bigshots in the GOP seem to be ignoring her candidacy? There have been a lot of comparisons of Harris to Pirro, but I don't see it that way. A Republican can easily win a Florida senate seat, but this is being treated like a write-off.

Okay Hitman, as per your dish it out tag line --
Let's see a photo of you on a horse. I'm actually scared at the prospect, because if your ugly words match the way you look... we better run.
This is chauvinism. Piggy male chauvinism and grotesque and sleazy remarks unbefitting a Freeper regarding a Christian GOPer on a political discussion page. If I were a guy I'd take you outside. As is, i feel like siccing my guy on you, buddy. Unbelievable remarks against KH by you, a Freeper? Unreal.
