Are the neocons losing it?

William Kristol of the Weekly Standard now demands the firing of Donald Rumsfeld. William F. Buckley, whose National Review branded the anti-war right "unpatriotic conservatives" who "hate" America, now calls upon Bush for an "acknowledgement of defeat."

But it is a March 20 essay in the Wall Street Journal that suggests the neocons may be coming unhinged. Written by Weekly Standard executive editor Fred Barnes.. calls on Bush to fire press secretary Scott McClellan, chief of staff Andy Card, political adviser Karl Rove, National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, Treasury Secretary John Snow – and Vice President Richard Cheney.

"The trickiest issue is how to handle Karl Rove," says Barnes.

That Bush is in trouble is undeniable. But his people are not Bush's problem. His policies are. It is these policies, not his advisers, that have given us huge deficits, 12 million illegal aliens, a trade deficit running at $800 billion a year and a no-win war that is bleeding our country.

If Bush should follow Barnes' advice and throw his most loyal people to the wolves as a PR stunt, he will have earned their lasting contempt, and that of the country. For all will know he was scapegoating them for his own failures – failures that come of having listened to the neocons who are even now slipping out of camp, rehearsing alibis and blaming Bush for not heeding their brilliant advi

Instead of debaring the article, you blame Pat, instead of blaming some of the decisions this administration you blame the MSM.

Pat was right when he quoted someone in this article who said We won the war, but lost the occupation. I knew the minute we won the war, but let all those Iraq's loot and plunder, without stopping it, it set the tone for the poat war management and it has not been good.

Pat's the one on the bandwagon playing the trombone with the fancy, swastika-spangled cloth cover.

Yup...and if Nazi Germany had won WW2 Pat would now be the American puppet fuerer.

Poor Pat......"he could have been a contenda"

Anything written by Pat Buchanan is not worth a comment.

I can deny this:

"...and a no-win war that is bleeding our country."

You wanna see BLOOD? Then pull out of Iraq and hand the country over to radical Islam. That will prolong World War IV by an entire generation...and make it infinitely harder to deal with a nuclear Iran...

If Paleo Pat has the answer, then it's a really stupid question.

Radical islam is redundant.

ALL Islam is "radical."

The answer is to not let them into the West.

Non Muslim Asian countries would be wise to do the same...deportation.

Add Lindsay Graham to the list of republicans I don't want to hear from again!

Graham is travelling to China with Chuck Schumer.

Guess if McCain can have a Feingold then Graham can have a Schumer.

Stomach turning.

Bush is in trouble. Conservatives are becoming increasingly upset over his big spending and his failure to secure the border and fight illegal immigration.

I haven't read the articles by the neocons that Buchanan cites. If the neocons are abandoning the war effort, Bush is in dire straights. It is incredibly ironic that some of the sweet little neocons are abandoning the war they so strongly encouraged Bush to pursue.

So anyone who hates Bush automatically "hates America?"

That's not why I meant to imply.

I despised Clinton from Jan 30, 1992 and I still do.....but I love America.

And if Jimmy Carter had flexed America's military muscles in 1979 when the Iran hostage seige began......the world would be much safer today.

I don't hate Carter....."I pity the fool"!

Pat's right and wrong in this case. Mainly because he allows his 'nationalist trade' tripe into the article at the end. He is right about the action in Iraq, but as his protectionism comes through, he loses me.

"So anyone who hates Bush automatically "hates America?" "

I would think that most of those that "HATE" Bush do hate America.

Hate is a strong word, hating is a full time job.

Disagreeing with President Bush on some issues is quite different than hate.

Why do you hate President Bush ? ( if that is what you meant?)

The topic was road rage and Sam was going on about "just today I must have cut some guy off and he started yelling at me and giving me the finger [Sam starts pretending to give the finger]" etc..and Kristol says "Are you sure he didn't just recognize you Sam?"
