I suspect McCain is deeply saddened.

The rulemaking makes it clear (see for example, page 20 line 3) that the new rule is intended to separate and regulate paid advertisement on the internet but exclude and leave unregulated other speech, like what we do here.

McCain pleased the old media with this move to take out their competition of influence - the Internet. However, he cooked his goose with the public for even thinking about this.

He caculated the old media would give him good press if he went after Republicans and the media's competition in political influence in political campaigns. However, he did not realize that the old media does not ever support a Republican running against their own party. The love affair will end with the old media if he ever wins a Republican primary. And he totally cooked his goose with the Internet majority. Why do they call McRage, McLame?

Not only McCain, but Hillary, too. She is the one who would like to see a gatekeeper for the Internet.

I speculated in another thread: I wouldn't be surprised to hear that Senator Clinton has recommended Jamie Gorelick as the first Commissioner of the Internet. [The Clinton's owe Gorelick big-time for her efforts to deflect the 9-11 Commission and quell Able Danger.]
