Slain Minister's Wife to Be Charged With Murder Friday, March 24, 2006 MEMPHIS, Tenn. The wife of a Tennessee pastor found shot dead in his house Wednesday will face first-degree murder charges, authorities announced Friday.
Mary Winklerwas found Thursday night with the couple's three daughters in Orange Beach, Ala., about 400 miles south of their home in Selmer.
Investigators with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said she was interviewed during the night and the charges were being prepared.
"We've interviewed her and she was cooperative," said Jennifer Johnson of the TBI, adding that once a warrant with the charges was drawn up, extradition proceedings would begin to have her returned to Tennessee.
Matthew Winkler was found shot to death in the bedroom of his parsonage Wednesday by church members who began searching for him after he failed to show up at an evening event at Selmer's Church of Christ.
Police said there were no signs of forced entry, but Winkler's wife and children Breanna, 1; Mary Alice, 6; and Patricia, 8 were gone.

I think you're smoking catnip. First, the girl is 8 years old and doubt she could or would shoot her own dad. Secondly, he's dead. If anything his wife is probably crazy.
Speechless, almost.
Oh I never intended to sound like I approved of it. I was just a bit shocked that everyone immediately thought he was to blame. He may well be, but no one seemed to think the wife could have been the one messing around.
They're morons buying into that all guys killed by their wives are either child molestors or wife beaters. It's pathetic.
Given the amount of planning she invested, it's clear that Mary seems to think he deserved it.....
I'd say there's a family problem here -- her fault, or his, I don't know.
If they deserve to be trashed in this instance, then it is what it is. Just because the MSM trashes something, doesn't mean it's sometimes deserved.
Post partum depression is also getting a tad overused don't ya think?! You kill 5 kids and it's post partum depression. What about in the 50's when everyone had 10-15 kids? Everyone in our neighborhood when I was growing up had at least 7-8 kids and several had 10 and more and none of the kids ended up dead cause the mom was a little blue! These shrinks are handing out these labels like candy- bipolar-post partum depression etc. DEAL WITH IT! I know someone whose kid was feeling depressed. Mom sent him to a shrink and he came home an hour later with a label, yes Bipolar and a handful of pills! After one hour! She threw the pills out. The kid is out of his slump and doing fine!
Hmmmm. A bit twitchy today, are we?
But someone has to be able to say "I told you so" , we are so inclined to try and solve murder mysteries.
Whatever happened, we can all be sure Screwtape is congratulating a young tempter in hell for this...

Yeah, blame the husband/father right away, forget the fact that some women are just psycho.
Maybe she just wanted out of the whole "religious" life.
LOL ... yeah, there is. One has to wonder about what extremity would have driven her to do this.
Well said.
I'm not jumping to any conclusions. There is no excuse. It's tragic. It struck me that this is a very small church to support a minister, wife with three children.
It is difficult to be a minister's wife and raise children. Everybody expects everything to be perfect; your life is under continual scrutiny.
I'm thinking that that life was too confining for her, maybe it will turn out to be something else, maybe we will never know.
Obviously something is/was very wrong. She can't have been thinking too clearly that she could get away. Glad that the children were not harmed, but they will always have scars now.
Very sad all around.
What an all around lose-lose scenario.....poor kids....
whatever the motives or deeds....she needs to be in jail for a long long time....and likewise for those like her too.
Just a guess. What sez she was depressed and was prescribed an SSRI by an MD?
