NEW YORK, March 24 (UPI) -- A Russian ambassador may have leaked U.S. war plans to the Saddam Hussein government on the eve of attack, recently released Iraqi documents say.
It is one of five documents dealing with Saddam, Osama bin Laden and others reported by ABC News. One document says Saddam personally approved substantive talks with bin Laden in 1995 that explored a possible operational relationship.

This information didn't seem to do Saddam much good.
I thought it was the French.
HAHAHAHAHAHA...you didnt need a crystal ball to figure out what was coming...
Well, it obviously didn't help Saddam........
Rockefeller went to Syria, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia in January 2002 per his own mouth for some reason. I have yet to read exactly what he had to say and exactly who all went with him.
From the ABC News website:
The first document (CMPC-2003-001950) is a handwritten account of a meeting with the Russian ambassador that details his description of the composition, size, location and type of U.S. military forces arrayed in the Gulf and Jordan. The document includes the exact numbers of tanks, armored vehicles, different types of aircraft, missiles, helicopters, aircraft carriers, and other forces, and also includes their exact locations. The ambassador also described the positions of two Special Forces units.
Document dated March 25, 2003
The second document (CMPC-2004-001117) is a typed account, signed by Deputy Foreign Minister Hammam Abdel Khaleq, that states that the Russian ambassador has told the Iraqis that the United States was planning to deploy its force into Iraq from Basra in the South and up the Euphrates, and would avoid entering major cities on the way to Baghdad, which is, in fact what happened. The documents also state "Americans are also planning on taking control of the oil fields in Kirkuk." The information was obtained by the Russians from "sources at U.S. Central Command in Doha, Qatar," according to the document.
Heck, Bush told them on television he was coming for Saddam, more than 48 hours before. Big secret??? Hardly.
Welcome to FreeRepublic, tesla ... you may want to get on eyespy's ping list now that you're here ... this is stuff we've known about for a few days.
Missing the point friends. The point is that the Russians not only can't be trusted, but they were looking to aid and abet Saddam to inflict maximum punishment on the Coalition forces.
And how do you think that bodes with Iran? The Bear is risen. And the West is its target.
Documents say Iraq tipped off on invasion

They weren't the only ones. According to Betrayal by Bill Gertz, the French built Roland missile system was discovered. Some had manufacture dates after the weapons embargo was imposed. They maintained the systems must have been acquired through a third party, but I doubt it. Additionally, the book claims the Iraqis were supplied with GPS jammers by the Russians. They were supposed to disrupt the JDAMS munitions, but they were either destroyed by other systems or failed, fortunately.
I thought it was Sen John Rockefeller D-WVA
I remember hearing talk about the Russian GPS jammers (an attempt to defeat GPS-guided smart munitions) three years ago at the time we were actually invading.
They aren't our friends, folks. There are few real friends on geopolitics, just countries with coincidental interests here and there. We'd do well to remember that with Russia.

Senator Rockefeller, Vice Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee was on Fox News Sunday today and it was an enlightening interview. I am tempted to copy and past the entire transcript for context, but I won't.
WALLACE: OK. Senator Rockefeller, the president says that Democratic critics, like you, looked at pre-war intelligence and came to the same conclusion that he did.
In fact, looking back at the speech that you gave in October of 2002 in which you authorized the use of force, you went further than the president ever did. Let's watch.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
ROCKEFELLER: I do believe that Iraq poses an imminent threat, but I also believe that after September 11th that question is increasingly outdated.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
WALLACE: Now, the president never said that Saddam Hussein was an imminent threat. As you saw, you did say that. If anyone hyped the intelligence, isn't it Jay Rockefeller?
ROCKEFELLER: No. I mean, this question is asked a thousand times and I'll be happy to answer it a thousand times.
I took a trip by myself in January of 2002 to Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Syria, and I told each of the heads of state that it was my view that George Bush had already made up his mind to go to war against Iraq, that that was a predetermined set course which had taken shape shortly after 9/11.

I will see if I can find it but someplace I read that Rockefeller did not go alone but with some from the State Department. I have wondered why Rockefeller used those specific words "I took a trip myself" without including others that went with him.
I have not heard that! That would certainly "add" to the discussion now, wouldn't it? Let me know if you find anything. I simply do not have time to research it right now.
I will let you know when I find it. I have things away from FR to accomplish so may be after the weekend before I get back to you.
Have a good day.
