Now hear this:
Thanks to John McCain, Free Republic will shut down tomorrow at high noon for 30 days. No non government approved electioneering messages may be transmitted over the internet for the 30 days immediately preceding a primary election.
That is all.
The above exercise was just a drill. But if John McCain has his way with his proposed rules for regulating political free speech on the internet, this is how we will be forced to operate in the coming election cycle and all election cycles in the future until we can get the unconstitutional McCain-Feingold act repealed.

I believe that this may be the start of the undoing of politics as we have know them for the past 220 years.

I wasn't disputing your right to criticize and/or disagree. I was referring to the use of the word "coward" - by all accounts Jim Robinson is not in any way cowardly plus personal attacks detract from the discussion.
I was NOT calling Mr. Robinson directly a 'coward', but that only a coward would NOT fight this.

"That's the problem - let the board get shut down by the government. That would be a news story. Shutting it down voluntarily, or as a protest, won't get squat for coverage."
I don't think that will happen because I don't think unpaid posts from citizens not representing campaigns are covered... I know many here disagree but I cannot find any language in the bill that would mandate closure of message boards.
