Man they just voted me off American Idol.
How many people die of normal flu every year?
I feel safe in making a prediction that the Bird Flu will NEVER kill 10% as many people as regular flu does in any year.
This is SARS all over again. Watch maybe 500-1000 people die worldwide and once again, Big Science will have made a fool out of itself.
Complete nonsense. If you're in good health with a strong immune system you'll be fine. Flu viruses always take the very very young and the very very old.
I go over these threads and think I'm back in the SARS threads of 2004
Respectfully suggest you read any competent history of the Spanish Flu in 1918-1919. The preferred target of that strain was otherwise healthy young adults.
Ping.
Thanks for posting this.
I have been following the bird flu topic for awhile and I have been doing alot of research recently.
My boss is going to China in April and I have some concerns about his exposure.
#1 Look at the map of the progression of the bird flu.
#2 Why do so many other countries report significant numbers in cases while China reports very few, yet the whole thing was more prevalent in China before it even appeared in other countries?
#3 China is a communist country without many freedoms. Do you think that they are covering up the numbers, as they did with SARS? There is no free press to report it if they are.
#4 Read articles on human rights violations on the website following. http://www.theepochtimes.com/news/6-3-

Worse Than Any NightmareJournalist Quits China to Expose Concentration Camp Horrors and Bird Flu Coverup
Over 6,000 Falun Gong Practitioners Detained in Secret Concentration Camp in China; 425 Bird Flu Patients in Two Facilities
Epoch Times Staff Mar 10, 2006
A reporter from China who worked for a Japanese television news agency and specialized in Chinese news recently escaped to the United States after being wanted in China for reporting on controversial issues. (The Epoch Times)
[High-resolution image ] A long-time reporter who worked for a Japanese television news agency and specialized in news on China told The Epoch Times that some little-known and very frightening things are happening in China today.
To protect his identity, The Epoch Times will refer to him as Mr. R.
CCP is Hiding Bird Flu from the World
The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has concealed the spread of the H5N1 bird flu epidemic within China from the rest of the world, according to Mr. R.
Currently, 425 bird flu patients are detained at the Heping District Contagious Disease Hospital and the Affiliated Hospital of Liaoning College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Huanggu District, Shenyang City. These patients are being used for medical experiments. Liaoning Province has decided to not report these patients to the central government and use all of them as subjects for medical experiments. These people have no chance of survival.
Over 6,000 Falun Gong Practitioners are Secretly Detained at Sujiatun Concentration Camp
In Sujiatun District, Shenyang City, the CCP has established a secret concentration camp, where over 6,000 Falun Gong practitioners are detained, said Mr. R.
The concentration camp has a crematorium to dispose of bodies. There are also many doctors on site.
No detainees have managed to leave the concentration camp alive.
Before cremation, the internal organs are all removed from the bodies and sold.
Now there are only a few Falun Gong practitioners at the Masanjia Labor Camp and Dabei Second Prison. Most of them have been moved to Sujiatun. Other practitioners from northeastern China and central China are also being transferred there.
No dead birds yet. There could be be dead birds, of course, but none in the yard. Still waiting for that belligerent robin with feathers all beat up that comes around, usually about mid April, each year.
Science revolves around the research grant. The more hype there is, the easier it is to get grants approved.
The thing that concerns me is that I'm reminded of the story "The Boy Who Cried Wolf" -- and that finally the wolf DID come, but nobody paid attention to the alarm at that point
Y2Kluck?
Correct. This article explains why.
I just read the article and now I am scared of everything.
This was a very pessimistic assessment, but the "just in time" economy would prove to be our downfall if the situation becomes anywhere near as serious as the 1918 pandemic. A breakdown in that system would be every bit as fatal as the worst virus. We're utterly dependent on it.
Doctor Osterholm seems to believe they are.
"CP: There's been a lot of covering up by some governments, hasn't there? It's been repeatedly alleged of the Chinese."
"Osterholm: Exactly. So my whole point is that before anyone will have even figured out that this is going on with any certainty, it'll be gonethe cow will be out the barn door. With influenza, that's just...it's something you can't pull back in."
LOL. I have an old Mocking Bird that I look for after returning home from a hurricane evacuation. I haven't seen him this spring unless that was him I saw dead out in the field the other day.
My Eastern Blue Birds have already built a nest and laid their eggs.
There will be nowhere near that many deaths from Bird Flu and the deaths that do occur will be from the already feeble who might die of any illness.
I'm not sure what makes you such an expert on this. Perhaps you would like to share your credentials.
The fact is that you have no resistance to this strain of flu, unlike the others you've had in your life.
If you caught this flu tomorrow, the odds are you would die.
Now, if you can assure us that this virus will not become easily transmitted between humans, that would be nice. But I would like that based on some facts, not a dismissive attitude.
