Home buyers are much more willing to go out to look at homes for sale on a winter day that is unseasonably warm and sunny. Very few home buyers want to go out house hunting on a bitterly cold and snowy winter day.
People stay inside on bad weather days. It is always the nice days when people get out and house hunt. The only people who house shop in bad weather are those who come from out of town or someone really needs a home quickly.
There are a number of reasons but the most common is that folks want to move in and/or out at the end of the school year. Since most closings take months a home bought in September or Januaru disrupts the kids schooling while a home bought in March, April or May will close after the school year ends but before the next one begins.
Because roaming around in a snowstorm or having to walk through 4 feet of snow isn't ideal for home shopping.
