You don't have to agree.
You just need to acknowledge reality.
The reality is that I am not alone in this thought, nor is it an insignificant number that hold this view.
If McCain is nominated a large number are going to refuse to support him. Probably enough to throw the race to the Dem, unlike McCain I don't believe the MSM will have his back in a presidential race. It was done in '92 and it was done in '96. And, imo, 41 and Dole were at least decent men. A quality that led me to support them even with vast disagreements on policy. McCain is not a man of character, and I will not support him under any circumstance because of it.
A vote for McCain is a vote for Hillary by default. If folks really want to test conservatives resolve on this...then people will learn the hard way.
But, luckily for them, I think conservatives are going to band together to destroy Mccain so that doesn't happen.
Many forget McLaim was actually considered for a running mate for John Kerry as VeeP.. Mclaim laughed it off.. but was flattered, he said.. Which republican in history was "honored" by the opposing party offering a spot on the ticket?..
Why was he considered?.. Why indeed.. Democrats know a traitor when they see one.. thats why..
And I do believe this is about where I first entered Free Republic in a discussion much like this one. I have come full circle. : )
The reality is if it's between McCain and Hillary, Hillary will be far worse for the country than McCain. The best assurance we have that Hillary won't get into power is to vote for McCain. It's that simple.
I do not want Hillary's grubby chubby hands on the Presidency again. A President Hillary would be a disaster.
