I lived in Chicago for two years and visited all of the major museums (including the Art Institute several times), with the glaring exception of the Field. I had a friend who was a curator their at the time, but never got to go. I'll make sure to drop by when I do my cross country drive next month.

Afterwards, I'll make sure to stop at Gino's East for lunch/early dinner. :-)

Do get to the Field, you will love it...its a wonderful museum, something for everyone to see....

My parents loved the Art Institute, and went there all the time...they loved going downtown on a Sunday afternoon, for an early lunch, and then heading over to the Art Institute for the rest of the day...

I have been away from Chicago for many years...miss a lot of things from there, one thing I miss the most, is their pizza...

The little-known but really cool little museum in Chicago is the Oriental Institute at the University of Chicago--a monument to the Golden Age of Pillage in Archaeology...
