Most people are probably safe from massive out-sourcing.
The folks who should worry about their job security are the journalists who work for Dinosaurs like the Washington Post. Who needs 'em??

Anything that encourages more unions is direct poison to the economy. End of statement.

"Will Your Job Survive?" Heck no. I try to eliminate my job within 12 months of taking it. If I don't, then I haven't created enough efficiency for the time I've worked at it.
I'm on my 6th company and approximately 20th job. Mostly, I triple productivity and then move on to the next thing.
Every job should be eliminated. And in so doing, create dozens more. It's the American Way! (tm)

Sounds like capitalism working as it should. I see nothing wrong with it.

Really. I think I read this same story back in 1981. I notice his big solution is to unionize 50 million private sector job. Another liberal who believes that only the French Model can save us.

The only reason these services are cheaper elsewhere is that foreign exchange rates are out of whack. If exchange rates were based on the cost of goods, Chinese factory workers and Indian programmers would be a lot more expensive.
These problems are starting to correct themselves already. Indian IT salaries are rising at 30% a year as shortages of skilled workers develop, while the Chinese factories now have to have recruiting drives to get the hands they need.
To: MikefromOhio
Yup, all of us with IT knowledge or degrees will be safe. You can't outsource that.

I see that Willie posted another anti-globalization article. Yes the world will change and protectionism will not stop the changes.
Unions that work in partnership with management can be a positive force at the workplace, however Unions cannot save our businesses or industry. More than not, they do more damage (Eastern Airlines=Machinists Union---GM/Ford=UAW).

Hey, now, c'mon, they have got to try to get the economy to tank in time for the elections.
Dare I say it? "Bush's Fault!"

Wasn't there something awhile ago about China deliberately undervaluing their currency to keep the trade up with the US?

Fear! Uncertainty! Doubt! Giant Sucking Sound! Outsourcing! The Japanese Arabs own America! That same bilge does seem to get recycled by the media. I wonder which country will be next week's villain?
