Oh, man, I SOOO agree with your sentiments on a visceral level...BUT (ya just knew it was comin')
Here's my only credible justification for not waxing every last one of them: intelligence value.
If even ONE of those guys can be, uh, "coerced" into providing information of value to us, it is worth having them all alive. In fact, they ought to be made -- dare I say? -- "painfully aware" that their status as living beings is directly linked to their perceived value as sources of actionable information, and that their failure to provide such information will be regarded with "severe disapproval".
P.S. -- John McCain: Butt the hell out.
That was my first impression. Except for the initial headline related blurb the rest of the article was a complete laundry list of everything bad that happened in Iraq lately.
I guess when you see this byline at the end of the story you know it's going to contain all the bad news that's fit to print:
"The Associated Press contributed to this report."
I'm sure the terrorists can feel confident that all their evil deeds are being reported in detail to the American public.
I dont have a problem with 50 captured, I do not even care if we killed nobody and captured the 50.
First, they gave up showing their resolve is weakening, second, my bet is a whole lot more of them than 50 never left that battle alive. The missing number is the number dead. I suspect that was pretty horrific if 50 of them gave up.
After their Iraqi prison guards get done questioning the Syrian prisoners, I suspect they will be questioning the wisdom of not fighting to the death. But that is their problem now and for the rest of their quite short lives.
