Uh-oh. Some White House guard is going to be going without his lunch, I bet. I imagine he's slapping himself upside the head about now. He was really looking forward to that head cheese on rye.

Everyone knows Al Gore's locked box contains only IOU's and a few used tea bags. What's the problem?

"Question. These packages get blown up. What would happen if something like anthrax (or worse) was in the package?"
"Good question. Anyone?"
It seems to me that the package should be contained in something where tests could be run on chemical contents after it is exploded.

The last bit of conservatism that was left in the White House being shipped out? That's it, we'll probably need more lockdown rules from Homeland 'Security' to protect us all.
Of course such an action was expected as the hotdog stand threat of March '06 didn't garner enough attention...

Reuters
Wednesday, March 22, 2006; 11:15 AM WASHINGTON (Reuters) -- Police sealed off the front gates of the White House Wednesday to check on what they said was a suspicious package left outside.
Reporters and camera crews were ordered inside the White House press area, as heavily armed guards took up position on the front lawn. The Secret Service had no immediate comment.

Heck I'd allow the reporters to get as close to the package as they wanted to.
