WASHINGTON (Reuters) -- Police sealed off the front gates of the White House Wednesday to check on what they said was a suspicious package left outside.

Reporters and camera crews were ordered inside the White House press area, as heavily armed guards took up position on the front lawn. The Secret Service had no immediate comment.

Heck I'd allow the reporters to get as close to the package as they wanted to.

Oh NO!!! CNN is reporting no lack of urgency!! Citizens aren't scattering and running for the nearest government official to protect them. Whatever to do?!?

And when this is all done it will be something like a kid's lunchbox that a groundskeeper could have gone over and picked up in a few seconds. But hey if we've got a chance to waste some more taxpayer dollars, show off cool toys (another waste of taxpayer dollars), and possibly instill a little more fear among the faithful, we've just got...to...take...that....chance.

Whew, had to switch to Fox News. Just wasn't having the fear of the unknown and the need for government to protect me from suspicious packages instilled properly on CNN. The voice on the cell phone act from the reporter 'on scene'(like he couldn't get to a video camera safely) and the constant maps with highlights on the robot has really, really (no...really) got me back in the right frame of mind. Thank you Homeland Security for existing!!
