"Additional Collectivist Myths"

The modern multi-national corporation is a form of collectivism. My personal belief is that this form of collectivism has removed the philanthropic nature of pure capitalism. Adam Smith's 'invisible hand' no longer applies as CEO's of multi-nationals seek to build no long-term value in the company, its' employees, communities, or nations. These corporations are now run for the sole benefit of market speculators (as opposed to those seeking long-term investment). They have taken on a destructive force in society, and present an obstacle, rather than an aid to the entrepreneurial spirit that built this country.

Our country's markets experienced a similar degradation in ethics prior to the 1929 market crash, and subsequent Great Depression.

Wow! Steve Forbes proves himself to be a great writer as well as a great economist. I knew he was smart, just never knew how smart.

We are losing our property rights via unelected tyrants - judges and bureaucrats illegally writing law.

Kelo, the endangered species act, and the fascist Environmental Protection Agency all work to dispossess us of birthright to lawfully use our property as we wish. And the gutless congress sits back and does nothing.

On the state level, land planning commissions, infested with UN NGO Marxists and insane utopians, work to destroy property at the local level.

The author makes many of the same points as made by the PBS series "Commanding Heights" including the focus on Henando DeSota's work as the distiction beyond free markets alone providing the rising tide that floats all boats. I don't see the tremendous focus on Hayek that the series had, and perhaps his research is parallel, but if he saw that series, he should credit what he drew from it.

I heard Forbes deliver this at the CCA program at Hillsdale College. It was a good CCA seminar about the Great Economists of the 20th Century.

Brilliant article by an arch fiend attempting to sugar coat the Eeevil capitalists as the loot and plunder their way across the Universe.

Imagine implying ayrabs should have property rights like the English.

Imagine not trumpeting like a bull elephant about how we have a "trade deficit" which will destroy us.

Imagine not running frightened into the night crying about "globalisation" and "outsourcing" and worrying that we will have no more jobs in ten years.

Who does he think he is.

Steve Forbes absolutely Nailed It!

This ping list is not author-specific for articles I'd like to share. Some for the perfect moral clarity, some for provocative thoughts; or simply interesting articles I'd hate to miss myself. (I don't have to agree with the author all 100% to feel the need to share an article.) I will try not to abuse the ping list and not to annoy you too much, but on some days there is more of the good stuff that is worthy of attention. You can see the list of articles I pinged to lately  on  my page.
You are welcome in or out, just freepmail me (and note which PING list you are talking about). Besides this one, I keep 2 separate PING lists for my favorite authors Victor Davis Hanson and Orson Scott Card.
