FOB KALSU, Iraq (Army News Service, March 21, 2006) -- Coalition forces completed construction of a patrol base in Jurf As Sukhr, about 80 miles southwest of Baghdad, March 17.
The base was built primarily as an integrated security effort between Coalition Forces and the Iraqi police from the Musayib police station while the Jurf As Sukhr police station is being built.
The patrol base is a sort of incentive to promote the stability the town required in order to get the construction of the new police station underway, said Lt. Col. Patrick Donahoe, commander, 1-67 Armor, 4th Infantry Division.
This project is the initial step in securing the town so citizens of Jurf As Sukhr can enjoy the essential services most cities are working to improve, added Capt. William Kron, Company A, 1-67th. We hope by bringing stability and security to the region it will also bring more projects and money into the area.
An example of the new Jurf As Sukhr was this months Painting the Town program. Iraqi Security Force and residents painted over businesses, walls and other structures littered with graffiti to help the town begin the transformation of a battle-riddled town to one with promise and hope.
Lt. Col. Achmed, Musayib police chief, chipped in by painting over grafitti on several structures within the town. This project motivated citizens of Jurf As Sukhr to take pride in their town, Achmed said, adding he hopes interest in the future will continue.

As the Iraqi stand up, we stand down. And that obviously does not apply only to the military effort. Some day they shall have a new government in place which will be required to provide for infrastructure rebuilding and renovation. Al Qaeda just hates the prospects.
A BIG bump to that!!
