Somebody needs to teach these people that you can shave your head much easier and less painfully with a Bic or Gillette razor.

LOL!

My brother likes the Vin Diesel look; he uses an electric clipper sold at Wal-mart for 14 dollars. He looks quite handsome, in my brotherly opinion.

So that is the reason some Philippinos are into self flagellation and crusifixion on good Friday...

I thought it had something to do about being ignorant to Scripture...

the practice of Christian self-flagellation is virtually extinct. Certainly, its decline is beyond dispute.

Because the Church strongly discouraged the practice.

The sole and important exception to this declivity is the resurgence of self-flagellation in the Philippines,

And the people doing it are nutz. And the Bishops do not recommend the practice.

Meanwhile, in muzzie-land, the imams are whipping their flocks into self-mutilating frenzies.

Yep. There used to be a nutty little store here in Tacoma run by a couple of dungeons and dragons types called the "Castle of Swords". I stopped in one time and the place was just packed with this kind of crap. My favorite was some sort of fantasy punch dagger with curved blades at either end. It was chromed and had oriental dragons on it as well as silhouettes of Robert E. Lee and Nathaniel Bedford Forrest.

Islamite blood sacrifices?

Totally barbaric.

"...self-flagellation is an old tradition and is still alive..."

You're absolutely correct. Why, when I was a teenager I use to self-flagellate until I started to grow hair on my palms...

Self-flagellation from Ashura to Arbaeen is not compulsory anymore than commiseration with the suffering of Christ via self-flagellation and self-crucifixion is compulsory on Easter.

Yeah. Aside from the huge knifes, and the cutting, and the blood pouring down all over and the procession of thousands screaming and yelling and wailing and women pounding their heads it is exactly like spinkling some water on a baby.

Thanks for your great insight -- genius and enlightened thinking is what it is.

I don't know if you've ever been to Latin America during the Christian celebrations of patron saints, such as the Virgin of Guadalupe, but I've seen self-punishing Christians acting out their weird beliefs for the world to see.

I've seen pilgrims bleeding heavily from their knees due to walking on their knees to fulfill their vows. I've seen pilgrims who faint and drop to the ground due to extreme dehydration to full their vows not to drink.

There are also people who perform even more extreme acts to show their devotion to their patron saint or to fulfill a vow.

The Bishops may not encourage the practice, but they don't actively discourage it either.

See they warned that there would be a civil war!!! Or, is this just sectarian violence?

I expect this to be touted as such on the MSNBCCNNABCCBS news.

Do you feel that Christian self-flagellation is a sign of mental illness or barbarism?

That late night home shopping network for knives is missing a great sales opportunity by not producing its programming in Arabic and putting it on Aljazeera.

This is a religious ritual of their's. While we may not think it is "normal", they probably do not think our baptisms are normal either.

And that makes their barbarism and their religion calling for violent jihad all right? Stop drinking the multi-cultural Kool-Aid, return to reality, and recognize the threat.

As long as their physical abuse does not affect other peopel, I don't care. If they want to cut themselves, that's them for it.

Yeah. Aside from the huge knifes, and the cutting, and the blood pouring down all over and the procession of thousands screaming and yelling and wailing and women pounding their heads . . .

And why does that bother you?

From what I'm told, most Muslims don't do this type of stuff.

From what I'm told, most Christians don't do this type of stuff.

Yet, the Muslims who do this are "subhuman" and the Christians who do this either don't really exist, or are "ignorant" of "scripture"

Wacky is wacky, and knows no limitations...
