Just a quick email to let you know about a six-page memo from Senator Reids office to Senate Democrats that surfaced over the weekend.
The memo titled Real Security directs Democrat Senators during the Congressional recess to hold events at military bases, with active military personnel to attack President Bush on national security issues. Here are some direct quotes:
Ensure that you have the proper U.S. and state flags at the event, and consider finding someone to sing the national anthem and lead the group in the Pledge of Allegiance at the start of the event, the memo states.
Hold a town hall meeting with state officials and a local National Guard unit at their armory to discuss the security impact of long deployments .Ask National Guard members to offer input on how security and disaster response at home is compromised by long deployments.
Visit the home of a military family that has purchased body armor on their own for a family member serving in Iraq or Afghanistan and hold an open press conversion on this issue .Ask the family if they would be willing to hold the open press conversation/town hall meeting in their yard, on their front porch or in their home.
In case Senate Democrats do not know, it is illegal to hold political events at military bases. Not to mention despicable to use the military and their families in this way.
When asked about this memo by the Washington Times, a staffer in Senator Reids office said, Its an effort to paint the White House and the Republican Congress as having a failed effort on national security issues, which is a direct result of their misplaced priorities and mismanagement.
Sounds political to me I also find it interesting that Harry Reid had to remind Senate Democrats to say the Pledge of Allegiance.
In fact, this isnt the first memo, Democrat strategists have written about the military. Many of you will probably remember a Democrat memo that surfaced during the Florida Recount of 2000 that detailed how to disenfranchise overseas, military voters, because Democrats feared they had voted Republican.
Americans were outraged in 2000 and they should be outraged again by this memo.
If the Democrats wanted to truly help our troops they wouldnt advocate cutting-and-running from Iraq, they wouldnt call for a censure vote of President Bush and they wouldnt ingratiate themselves with the Michael Moore wing of their own Party.
These three things have only emboldened our enemies and a memo from Harry Reid will never change that.

Hey, they need coaching - it's not easy to fake sincerity.
Ensure that you have the proper U.S. and state flags at the event, and consider finding someone to sing the national anthem and lead the group in the Pledge of Allegiance at the start of the event, the memo states.
The fact that Democrats have to be REMINDED to do this says everything you need to know about them.
Hold a town hall meeting with state officials and a local National Guard unit at their armory to discuss the security impact of long deployments".
They need to thank Bill Clinton and Murtha for this. They systematically hacked the active force back in 1993 and planned to rely heavily on the reserve force in the future.
- Dems need reminding? Did anyone else have the urge to puke when reading this? Urging the recitation the pledge and the flying of our flag not out of love of country but as political propaganda tools is disgusting and despicable.
The Dems will turn this into a "how the memo was illegally obtained" by the "culture of corruption" issue.
"Do steer away from making it look like a Socialist enterprise. Too many people have already gotten the idea that it is nine-tenths a Socialist movement... We want also to look like patriots in everything we do. We want to get a good lot of flags, talk a good deal about the Constitution and what our forefathers wanted to make of this country, and to show that we are really the folks that really stand for the spirit of our institutions."http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Roger_Nash_Baldwin/
They'll also need the words to the pledge and the national anthem to successfully recite either.
I see later in the article you brought out what I was going to say - it's ILLEGAL - and active military cannot - unfortunately - comment politically...
But never fear, the press will be all over this and expose it for what it is.............(not)
It is party first--country second. No, that's not right. Moveone.org, People for the American Way, the ACLU, the gay lobby, and trial lawyers--in some order--THEN country.
Democrats cloaking themselves in the flag and reciting the Pledge is like a vampire bragging about having garlic on his grocery list.
Well, golly gee - that clears that up.
That's what my Grampa would've called "doublespeak" - problem is, the press will pick up the mantra and the sheeple will believe it - mission accomplished.
So what Dirty Harry is saying is it's merely an AntiWar Rally performed by US Senators using US Military facilities and personnel?
Highly illegal! The Republicans should Censure his axx.
More phony patriotism from the folks who did not want the absentee military ballots counted in Florida.
