>as if the Bible were a theory like other theories ...

He doesn't say it,
but there's a corollary:
Pretty much, most kids

regard everything
they're taught in school as worthless.
We do not want Christ

associated
with all the worthless nonsense
that schools do present!

Isn't this the guy who is also a Druid?

No, I think that's a different guy. There was one that was a bishop in either the Anglican Church of Canada or the Episcopal Church that was into that stuff.

What kind of babble is that? I know there are good arguments on both sides of this issue, but if anyone can discern a coherent thought in the above statement by the Archbishop, please let me know

I've been following the anglican unplesantness out of curiosity for a while and having read plenty of Dr Williams the one thing he can be counted on to do is to not make sense.

Last time I checked, it wasn't up to anyone on this earth to make that determination

I'm not making any determination. But the Bible says I will know them by their fruit.

Certainly thats true but God did grant us some discernment skills as well.

Sometimes its easy to figure out who the false prophets are.

Look up bishop Spong. He doesn't believe in God, Christ is a myth and there is no heaven or hell - all mythology. Check out his ten internet theses. He thinks he is some kind of MArtin Luther.

Yes, The Archbishop of Canterbury became a druid just before he assumed his post. Its public record.

It's not very Christian of me, but I'm tempted to ping the evo-list myself. It would be most humorous for them to come roaring in here and unkowingly associate themselves with a left-winger who views palestinians as morally equal or superior to Israelis and is a multi-culti PC king.

It's a good thing I have a forgiving Savior :)

in two city academies founded by the evangelical Christian businessman

I meant these businessmen, but since they are founders, maybe they are long dead. Like Harvard's Christian founders.

No kidding? I had heard about a North American bishop that got involved in druidism while he was a bishop, but I didn't know old Rowan had too. Not surprising, though.

the professed belief that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior

That same professed belief is also used by those who would claim to be Christian for the purpose of undermining it.

When a raving liberal, logically challenged, non-scientist tells me to ignore intelligent design, that's a good indication that I should do the exact opposite and consider the evidence objectively.

"I'm not making any determination. But the Bible says I will know them by their fruit."

Exactly, the Bible states so very clearly.

I don't think dear William is a follower of Christs' teachings.

He stands for NOTHING so falls for ANYTHING:

Rom.12:2

[2] And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

He has decided the world knows it better than God.

Even he, is without excuse:

Rom.1:20

[20] For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

He has faith in man; NOT God. The poor soul doesn't realize that SCIENCE supports Creation too!

People can "profess" anything. It's their ACTIONS that I look closely at.

Just because a man professes belief and diligently goes to church doesn't mean anything if when he comes out he VIOLATES what God teaches as truth.

How many PROFESS when in court that they are "innocent" when later the EVIDENCE alone CONVICTS them of lying? It happens everyday. What different today is MANY church leaders are walking, talking hypocrites. This clergyman is a unbelieving hypocrite who picks and chooses what he WANT to believe.

Just to check.... you're posting in haiku because it's some of the "worthless nonsense" they tried to teach you in school? Along with mathematics, writing skills, reading, critical thinking and how to function in society?
