The problem is he keeps smirking. He is speaking very intelligently but using poor body language. I just heard a replay of his speech on the radio. A first for me. GWB comes off very well, voice only. His body language has always made me cringe.

"you are either with us or with the terrorists".......... All bark, no bite. Pot, meet kettle.
You are proof that Free Republic is not just an echo chamber of Bush loving sycophants. Just don't complain about someone "attacking your patriotism" or your "freedom of speech" when they respond to your little inane statements. Or, perhaps the USA is not #64 on Bush's priority list, as you claim in your tagline?

Patricia Schroeder == she's a vicious and deadly enemy of all we hold traditional and dear AND very influential as the President and CEO of
the Association of American Publishers.
You can count on her being absolutely involved in working behind the scenes with Hillary and her other socialist scheming comrades.

Where does the buck stop these days? When it comes to reforming the entitlement progams, the buck stops with Congress. The President can only cajole and jawbone.
There is only one way to control inflation, and that's to control government spending and promote economic growth.
Hard to do when you have exploding entitlement programs, war, natural disasters, and lack of political will on the part of Congress to reform the social welfare system. You have almost 50% of the federal budget on automatic pilot. There is very little discretionary spending to cut once you pay for the entitlement programs, service the national debt (17 cents of each federal dollar), and defense.

Actually I seem to recall that he shelled the Bekaa Valley -- which, if true, is about the same as sending a missile into a tent to hit a camel in the ass.
The reality is that our policy in the Middle East has been a disaster for at least thirty years, under ALL Presidents, and terrorism is just a part of that disaster.
9/11 was a wake-up call, but the 'Rats and their co-conspirators in the media have hit the snooze button and gone back to sleep, mumbling "it's all bush's fault" in their lame dreams.

I was THRILLED that he kept Helen Thomas from interrupting. THRILLED, I tell ya.
The dowager _itch always interrupts, manages to get in more negative commentary in what are supposed (?) to be questions! The President stopped her dead. Said, "with all due respect" more times than I've ever heard him have to say it. BRAVO, Mr. President.
And he kept her from asking any follow-up. WOWSER.

If you start scratching for minutia like that to make a point, you are admitting your defeat in a debate. A few of us are waiting to find out what YOU KNOW about the budget process.
Or is that a bit of minutia you don't care to address?
Troll.

Well our W is finally back, his press conference was great, he was strong, didn't take any guff from from the scribblers, cut the foolish questions short and sternly told Helen T, she didn't know what she was talking about This was the leader we voted for, welcome home Mr President!

I'm going to capture it - and put it on a DVD with yesterday's speech in Cleveland and send it to my buddies in Iraq.
They're going to love hearing their President support them, the war and tell the nation, "There isn't any civil war" two days in a row!

"Bush talking about SS reform while increasing social welfare spending in total is a sham."
I'm a budget hawk. And I prioritize balancing the budget over further tax cuts.
But you're just over the top here. The President has faced 9/11 in the first term and the biggest natural disaster in history in the second.
If the President had been Ronald Reagan in his prime and Newt Gingrich were speaker of the house social welfare spending would still have gone up because either we were gonna figure a way to pay for senior's prescriptions or we were gonna spend more on foodstamps and other elder assistance as rising prescription costs bankrupted them.

And now for a bit of ?levity or pathos -
I am listening to my morning talk show host asking Man on the Street folks "how many teams in the Final Four. They have no CLUE, even when he says "listen to the question."

Well then you are not that young. I want to say how sorry that I am for your loss and thank you for stepping up and taking care of your niece.
We have not lost a family member to a war, but have had an immediate one in the military for the last 50 years. Many time they have come close to death and we live with the possibility every day.
