FWIW, rumours in the forex market that the I remember trading in these markets back in 89?90? when there was a rumor that Bush41 had been shot. Total insanity for about an hour. I think that day is still the record for dollar index volatility.

I think the News conference is part of a planned WH effort to get its message out. "A series of speeches" was the term used in a McClellan presser from last week.
March 17, 2006 The President is giving a series of speeches this month to update the American people about our strategy for victory in Iraq. In those speeches he's talking about the progress we're making, the lessons we have learned from experience and how we're fixing what was not working. The speeches give the President an opportunity to talk about developments in Iraq in the broader context, and speak in greater detail about events on the ground. As Commander-in-Chief he believes it's important to keep the American people updated on our strategy and the progress we're making and the challenges that we continue to face.
This last Monday the President talked about the security element, about how we're training Iraqi security forces and they are more and more taking the lead in the fight and controlling more territory. And he also talked about how we're working to defeat the threat from improvised explosive devices.
On Monday, the President looks forward to traveling to Cleveland. The President in his remarks will talk about how we are working with all aspects of Iraqi society to defeat the terrorists and restore calm and order throughout Iraq and helping to rebuild homes and communities and achieving the stability that can only come from freedom. The President will highlight concrete ways and examples of real progress that is being made and how our strategy is succeeding.

I wish GeeDubya'd show some undeniable success stories and then wonder out loud why this stuff has not shown up in the media for the last 3 years, but then, that wouldn't be consistent in changing the tone in DC.

What I wouldn't give to see GWB ignore Gregory. Priceless! I would love that!!

I have also seen those rumors from brokers. Word to the wise: Unsubstantiated rumors in financial markets are almost invariably false. For instance, last week the rumor was that Will Ferrell had died in a hang-glding accident.

Probably wishful thinking......the media has been pressing for a "shake-up" recently.

I thought David Gregory was filling in on the Today show.
Not exactly, Gregory is getting his legs waxed in anticipation of replacing Katie Le'Perk-Perk when she jumps ship to See-BS.
