Michelle's Wacky Weather World, Part II: Cold & Snow Portend Bad Hurricane Season

I will always have a soft spot for NBC reporter Michelle Kosinski. After all, it Michelle's Canoe-Gate stunt, http://newsbusters.org/node/2199, that got my NewsBusters career off to a nice start. Michelle was back on the weather beat on this morning's Today show. And once again she came up with an weather-related allegation that strained credulity.

As we know, in MSM-land, all extreme weather events, from the very hot to the very cold, are somehow attributable to global warming. Michelle's topic this morning was the record-breaking cold and heavy snows that have swept the nation's mid-section. She reported from a very cold and snowy Springfield, Illinois [snow in Springfield on the first full day of spring - haha, we get it].

But somehow, Michelle managed to parlay this unusually cold and wintry weather into the threat of . . . increased hurricane activity, which of course is the result of unusually warm weather in the tropics. According to Kosinski:

"Wild weather is hammering much of the country and some experts feel this could herald bad tornado and hurricane seasons."

Bad hurricane seasons? Really? The NASA climatologist expert she later brought on spoke only of the way in which the unusual cold could portend "a very, very active tornado season." Not a peep about hurricanes. But anything is possible in Michelle's wacky weather world - and those evil SUVs are presumably at fault!

I'm sure many FReepers will recall with a chuckle when Michelle got caught out reporting on the 'massive flooding' in NJ while sitting in . . . a puddle.

Looking at long term trends in weather it makes it fairly easy to predict a bad hurricane season for the next few decades.

“Knock, knock,”

“Who’s there?”

“Canoe.”

“Canoe who?”

“Canoe believe they’re doing this on television?”

Heavy snow in March and even April is not unusual.

We're just lucky Michelle didn't cover the monster cyclone that hit northeastern Australia..........but, but.....I wonder if Bush will be blamed for those thousands left homeless? Possible Great Barrier Reef damage? You bet Bush had something to do about that!

Bill Clinton LOVES going "down under" LOL or ....oh never mind....I bet Aussie Bill will be heard from today on this disaster, he's gotta insert himself in every story, don't ya know, mate?

I examined the entrails of a chicken and they portend a mild Summer.

To resolve this dispute in an entirely scientific and authoritative manner, I submitted the question to The Magic 8-Ball. Unfortunately, the answer was "Reply Hazy, Try Later."

However, reading between the lines, the reference to "hazy" clearly indicates that the summer weather will be hazy, hot and humid = bad hurricane season.

I think you might be onto a new slogan for the loosers.

I can just picture the bumnper stickers now:

Democrats
Because bitching about the
weather takes courage

The magic 8-Ball is not a natural method of seeing. Only natural methods can determine natural events.

Look closely, and you can detect the hurricane forming even as Michelle stands in the middle of the blizzard.

Thanks, meema. It gave me a chuckle to revisit Canoe-Gate. "Fame" is a stretch, but I appreciate the thought!
