I own firearms and am seeking to purchase some more. But...what if you accidentally hit a little kid playing or sitting across the street in your confrontation? Besides, wouldn't you risk putting buckshot in the side of your car?
The fence option, dogs, alarms, motion detectors, an iron gate, the expense issue aside, would be the more preferable way to go. There are some pretty annoying delinquent teenagers, but usually they grow out of this stuff.
I mean if the kid was engaging in real vandalism a shot from a pellet gun or BB gun in the ass might have gotten his attention and avoided the homicide charge. To point a shotgun at someone and pull the trigger would seem to require some valid concern about one's own life or bodily safety.
Remember it's Ohio. Lawns aren't greening up in Ohio quite yet.
If it was ring and run he would not have been shot, he would not have been there. The kid hid in the bushes a few feet from the front door. The homeowner thought it was an attempted home invasion.
I have no neighbors across the street. Any one around my house is not there by accident or taking a shortcut. If at night they are there for only one reason and it would not be for my best interest. As far as holes in my car, well it is my car, I can shoot all the holes in it I wish.
Now you're scaring me. I put all my hangers the same way. Not sure about the light switches, though. All I know is when they're up, they're on.

Excellent post. You never really know your neighbors and I bet there is a lot more to this story.
You are correct.....this kid was slapping a cobra and got bit per se with his version of a game with a mental case.
He didn't deserve to get murdered for his disrespect of others property but if Martin brought this to the kids attention and asked em to keep their rugrats off his property and they ignored his "request / demands repeatedly then they are just as guilty as this crazy SOB that shot their kid IMO.
Control yer dang kids people there a friggin NUTS out there that will hurt em or as in this case worse !
Responsibility and respect will reduce regret........
Put a bunch of seniors on the jury and this guy may walk. And maybe he should.
My doc told me that it basically is associated with " Bright and pushy" people. I will admit to two very uniformly folded towels hanging in my bathroom. As far as pushy,....I have taken no for an answer, but not often. LOL!!!
Oh, well. Blood makes the grass grow.
I think this is most likely a case of senile dementia. Lock him up and toss the key.
So true. Everyone has their limits/thresholds. I know I do...
>I feel bad for the older fellow. I feel nothing for the rat or his parents. A 15 year old is not physicially a boy nor can his aggressive acts of disrespect be viewed as a childs. Even this biased story reports this killing as not being a random act of violence. The punk spent years apparently with his parents support taunting the senior, goading him.<
Are we getting the whole story? Perhaps the "innocent" shooter, was a nasty old jerk, who complained about this kid or his parents for anything and everything. Perhaps, just perhaps, this feud was egged on because the old man complained about the kid for basically being a kid, or was ugly to the kid's parents for some perceived problem. Perhaps the neighbors and the kid had been reacting to this nut's behavior by taunting him.
We don't know. All we're hearing is the story from someone so unbalanced he used a shotgun on another person when his own life was in NO danger whatsoever. Frankly, I hope they lock him up and throw away the key.
My neighbor, a nasty old coot who was once arrested by the previous owner of our house over a property dispute, called recently to whine that the FREE (to him) gravel we put on the privately maintained road, was "too large" and was causing him to have front end problems on his car. He's not paid a dime, since we moved here, for gravel or road maintenance, except to have his part of the gravel road paved (and had the nerve to want US to pay for part of that!).
Teen Killed After Harrassing Elderly Man for Five Years
what good will youre car be to you in prison?
You evidently are not familiar with Texas law.
No im not. So you are saying that if someone vandalizes youre car.. you are allowed to shoot that person?
