Cucumber burps? :)

I just saw part of the interview. Kristinn's great, but I can't stomach that Cleghorn dude. Mute.

TRANSCRIPT from Central Time Replay: I think you can figure out who says what...

TV channel 65 Mon Mar 20 18:32:36 2006

>> Deadly violence marks the anniversary in iraq. At least 39 people kill including eight iraqi policemen who died in roadside bombings. Nearly 1,000 iraqis have been killed in sectarian violence since last month's violence. The F.A.A. Is investigating the crash of a twin engine plane near heart of branson, missouri. All four people were killed when a plane went down, narrowly missing the entertainment strip. Spring has arrive. Don't tell that to the people in the plains states where a powerful storm is during more than a foot of snow. Four deaths are being blamed on the weather and hundreds of schools were closed. The average price of gas soared nearly 14 cent a gallon. The biggest weekly increas record. Now back to "hardball."

>> Three years ago, after the start of the war in iraq, american are more did he have I'ded than ever. Evidence to week, here and across the country, thousands of antiwar protestors came out to mark the anniversary of the beginning of the war. Later tonight, democratic congresswoman ana and indicate graifnger will be here to debate where we think the war should go now. But first to the anti-war protests over the weekend and thousands rallied worldwide against the war. Still turnout was lower than in 2003 a 2004. So where is the anti-war movement now? And who are the voices supporting the war? Steven is with military families speak out. A group that advocates the pullout of the troops in iraq. Immediately right now he wants them out. He marched today at the pentagon. His stepson recently serve in the iraq. And christian taylor, the spokesman for a free republic.Com. He organizes rallies in support of the war. His nephew david is serving in afghanistan. Let me start with kristen taylor. What do you make of this week with george stephanopoulos by chuck, from nebraska. I think it is important we stop this talk about we won't leave until we achieve vect order. What is vect order? We achieved vect order. Saddam is gone. The iraqis have a constitution. They have a had an election and now it is up to them. What do you make of that as the father of a service person.

>>KRISTINN: (I'm the) Uncle of two people serving right now. One in afghanistan, one at the horn of africa was involved in the incident with the pilot she said. Senator hagel, I don't know if he remember. We've made a progress to the iraqi people that we would not leave until the job was finished. Until the country was secure the and they had a if you knowing government. They've had three free elections. The first time in the history of the civilization.

>> Aren't they fighting themselves?

>> Their fighting some of themselves and they're also fighting outside influences from iran, from syria, from saudi arabia. The iraqi people are in a tough spot. But they are standing up. We've been talking quagmire for three years now. And it still hasn't been a quag mere yet.

>> The shiites went the elections because they outnumber everybody else, 60-40, they'll form the government. They have -- this is a winning side of an election. This would be a definition of vect order. If a democratic government were elected. Are not they heavily influenced by iran? Isn't that the threat? That the winners will be allied with iran.

>> Yes but you have the sunni that's are participating in the government. The sunnis turned out in huge numbers in the last election because they recognized that they have a stake in the future of iraq, too. That's what we're working for. Sunnis, kurds, christians, they all have a steak in the democratic iraq. I don't think any but the hard core batdists want to go back to the old days.

>> How long do you the american people should support it?

>> I think the alternative is worse. The alternative is to give iraq as a gift to the terrorists.

>> Who are the terrorist? Explain that term. Do you include by terrorists, the people in iraq who just don't want to be ruled by the shia?

>> The terrorists are the ones who are car bombing children. Who are blowing up --

>> We know what they're doing. It is called terrorism. What I hear from every serviceman who comes on this program, everybody we talk to, err reporter, 95% of them are iraqi sunnis.

>> Yep. Yeah.

>> Sunys do have a problem.

>> Do you think they'll give up?

>> Thank been starting to turn against the foreign fighters and the an barr province. Their talking about with theeing ray government with the coalition forces. The iraqi people are getting tired of all the violence over there. Three years if s a long time to live like that.

>> Fair enough. Let's to go steven. What do you be we should do right now? Dump it?

>> Well, i wouldn't put it as dump it. I think that we need to get out and we need to get out very soon soon.

>> With a kind of a question is raised by chris 10?

>> The iraqi people will decide. That and as for the two generals out a while ago, indicated it is really hard to tell. Even for experts exactly what is going to happen.

>> Doubted our presence oh there is worse than our nonpresence? In other words, have we done more damage than if we had stayed out of that country?

>> Definitely. Leaving aside issues of incompetence, my son who was oh there said to me a year and a half ago, dad, we need to get out there was and we need to get out of there soon. A lot of bad things will happen but they'll all be worse if we stay. The american troops are an occupying force in the eyes of many of the people order there. They are not only drawing some fire against themselves, but keeping the reason for being of the terrorism in their country. Judge.

>> I want to go to you on that larger point. It is a profound question. We're all americans and our primary concern are american's role in the world. Going through rest of our lives and our grab kids' lives. Where will the united states be sitting? It won't be pretty either way. When you hook at that large region of a billion people there, who are have some kind of gripe against, do you think we'll be better off in term of our relationship with those people? A small percentage are potential terrorists. Do you think we'll have a better relationship for having gone to iraq?

>> Yes, I believe we will. Eventually we will have a stable democracy in iraq. That's whatilli of muslims are looking for. They're tired of the dictatorships. They want a say in there government and how they live. Many muslims don't have that opportunity. The united states is bringing that opportunity.

>> Why don't we have that international polling that they're glad we're there?

>> You've got me. Anybody can put a poll out. The poll that matters is the poll in the streets. And if you remember, there have been all these predictions of great uprisings in the arab street if we went into iraq three years ago. The arab street is still pretty calm.

>> Eem confounded as well as you are, by kids wearing, when i meet them in east africa, kids wearing bin laden tea sherts and hats and having poster in the store fronts. The only thing we know is that he bombed us.

>> They're kind of cute at this point. They're not about to get us now. I think there is a difference. That's kind of camp almost. Isn't it?

>> No. No. Bin laden is the ultimate symbol of steking it steking it to authority.

>> A lot of our kids wear them. I see kids wearing them. It's not, like a robert marley t-shirt at this point. I do know that bin laden's number one thing, blog up threas,000blowing up 3,000 people. What do you think it will be in a couple years?

>> I think it will be pretty pad. When the president said in the state of the union speech that we didn't bring any of this on ourselves, i about jumped out of my seat with frustration. Going all the way back to 1953, when our country joe threw democratically elected government of iran, we sewed the seeds of some of the radical islamic governments that are oh there now. And we've had a very checkered history. Mostly because of our insatiable appetite for oil in that area. I really think we owe the iraq yes people and many of the people in that region of the world, a deep apology right now. And I think it would be very good. It would be an act of great political courage on the part of the president to offer such an apology and say, we need to start over again and recognize that we have something to do with putting saddam hussein in there. We used saddam hussein as a proxy for the united states. Secretary rumsfeld shook his hand. We all know that. An apology is in order. I think if we maid a sincere effort in that direction, we won't have a chaotic horrible future there that will threaten our gran children.

>> Thank you very much. Up next, president bush

Maybe it was one of the two hundred protesters at the "Massive March on the Pentagon" today, and it was PO'd that nobody came to their "MMOP."
