Yes, it would be much better if the guns that criminals use for illegal purposes came from right there in New Jersey instead of out of state.
If only there just weren't any of those darned out of state guns, why there wouldn't be any crime at all in New Jersey.

I find it odd, the 1st amendment bundles up, religion, speech, press, assembly and petition. Refers to the "people," and the libs are forever all over it for rights of the people when it benefits them.
The 2nd amendment stands alone, with one stated purpose. But, the right of the "people" to keep and bear arms is totally discredited by these same libs. According to the left, the "people" quoted in the 2nd suddenly becomes state militias.

"smuggling guns from other states" is supposed to sound sinister I guess, but what it means is driving across a bridge from Philadelphia into Camden or from NYC into Newark.

They're going to be REALLY MAD when bird flu arrives in NJ, and they find out that it flew in on birds from out of state.

The rally will end with a march across the "Trenton Makes, The World Takes"...
I drove by this bridge many years ago at night; the "Trenton Makes, The World Takes" is illuminated at night. However, this night the bulbs that illuminate one of the letters was out. From a distance the sign said:
"Trenton Makes, The World akes"

Before moving to the Sunshine State I lived in NJ and can tell you or any other FReepers a true personal horror story about firearms and the Garden State. Anyone like to hear a personal testimony?

My misadventure began several years ago when I lived in Point Pleasant Beach, NJ and my young son and I planned to do an overnight hike through the Pine Barrens, or Pinelands, in south central Jersey. At the time this consisted of about a million acres - mostly pine trees, sugar sand, an occasional ranger station or tower. I won't go through all the dramatic details but on our first night we were attacked by a pack of wild dogs and barely escaped a potential death by just making it to our car in the nick of time. I vowed that I would never go there again without a firearm. Thus began my gun control nightmare! I went to my local police station to apply for a rifle permit. Forget a pistol or revolver! That was impossible. Anyway, I was fingerprinted and subjected to a state and federal criminal investigation. I was given three forms to be completed by non-relatives who knew me professionally. I subsequently learned that all sorts of inquiries and contacts were made to all sorts of people - some of whom I hardly knew and including places of employment. MORE THAN A YEAR elapsed before I received my permit! Meanwhile, every day that I read the Newark Star Ledger or the Asbury Park Press I scanned accounts of murder, mayhem, and violence perpetrated by people who obviously didn't give a damn about doing what I had done. It suddenly dawned on me that the ONLY people who cared about these laws were the law-abiding citizens and that they (we!) were the only ones being disarmed and made vulnerable. I could say more but the basic and irrefutable point is that the WHOLE damned process is a farce and a joke that ultimately aids and abets the criminal underclass. To make a final point of contrast: when I got down here in FLA I went to a local store, bought a .38 special and walked out after a 25 minute background check by computer! By the way, the idiotic argument about guns coming from "out of state" is just the pretext that the gun-grabbers want to UNIVERSALLY prohibit firearms. I made it a point of triumph to have my NJ gun permit laminated - it proves that I prevailed over the state's strongest efforts to deprive me of Second Amendment rights! I consider it a badge of honor!

Here in Florida we export guns to N.J, while N.J. exports criminals to Florida.

Obviously, what New Jersey needs to do is set up checkpoints at all the bridges so that they can search all cars for contraband guns while they look over your papers. The only problem with that would be that after the first one hundred arrests the cops would be charged with racial profiling.

Anti-gun activists point to weapons spilling into New Jersey from other states as a large part of the problem. Sentence #2 quotes gun grabbers. Any quotes of self-defense advocates in this article? Not in the first n paragraphs.

Once again the left has it completely backwards. The problem is not the guns, the problem is the kids! Criminals are not alien beings from the planet Crimon. They are our young people who have gone wrong. Unfortunately, it has become fashionable for kids to act like hip-hop "gangstas" (Thank you MTV!). I have worked with kids like this. Last year the company I work for hired an arrogant little punk who thought he was Mr Big Shot. I laughed at him because i knew he wouldn't last more than a few days. Sure enough, they kicked him out a few days later. About two weeks after that he was arrested for double homicide for stabbing to death two people in a robbery gone bad. His stupidity will now cost the people of Massachusetts a thousand dollars a week for many years to keep his sorry behind in prison.

Thanks for the post. Amazing difference. My home state (CA) is hopeless although CC permits are issued on a per county basis.

NJ crimes were committed by people not guns. This is the major blindness of dupes who go along with gun-grabbers.
Of curs, the real reason behind the effort to outlaw the ownership of firearms by private citizens is well known. Governments can more easily control an unarmed population.
The point the Fonding Fathers made is that the only way a self-governing people can change government is that they be armed. Governments, such as the one we now have in Washington, would ban the ownership of guns by the people so that the people cannot change governments if necessary.
A government who fears an armed citizens is a government to be feared.

I have lived in NJ all my life and resent the fact that the libs have been controlling things for so long. I vote, I own guns, have an FID and go through the individual purhcase permit routine for every handgun. Finding places to practice is becomming more and more difficult.
Now I were a criminal from Newark, Camden or Trenton I would have an easy enough time bringing in guns from other states along with all the drugs. What the heck....If I'm going to get busted...having a gun won't add much time to my bid.
In NJ, we all know where the bulk of the crime comes from and our politicians are to Politically Correct to fix the problem. After all, its easier to screw around with the working class...the idiots who acutally follow the law.
