Wow that's great! Maybe we can all help each other.
That would be great :)
Well, I'm still learning - I try and learn a bit every day, and I can always use people to practice with :) I love the language though, even if it is confusing as all heck sometimes! Lol.
And where should I move to, Hope-san? :D
A poetry thread, hm? Sugoi! Atashi no pingu onegai shimasu! :D

I am worse at Haiku than I am at Japanese LOL. But we all gota learn sometime :)
Thanks.
LOL There is one that I did not understand.
Easier than Arabic xP Not that I ever got far with Arabic.. though I may take it up again someday.
I can't write haiku very well. I mean, I do okay in English-haiku.. but I've never tried composing a haiku in Nihongo, even though that's how they should be, lol! Sentences are hard enough to put together without worrying about traditional poetry styles xD

"Atashi no pingu onegai shimasu" = "please ping me".
Atashi is a femenine form of "I"/"me".. "pingu" is actually "Engrish" but I have no idea if Japanese has a real way to say "ping" xD "Onegai shimasu" is literally "please do this."

I thought about Arabic and I am thinking about Farsi (Persian/Iranian). LOL I cannot do english Haiku that well. I know how hard it is to do the sentance thing first hand :D
Cool :)
Well I could not find a Japanese word for ping in my Japanese dictionary lol
Thank you for posting Chapel, Mr Tonkin!
*HUG*
A Blessed and peaceful Sunday to my Canteen family..
Hugs alla round!

I recently (as in, within the past few days) spent about -two days- trying to translate -two sentences- from English to Japanese.. and I'm still not sure how correct it is! (Mostly in whether I need to make it more specific or not...) I can write good in hiragana, though! LOL!
I don't know much about Farsi.. but I can make out most anything in German, Spanish, Italian or French with a bit of guesswork.. Am also going to start studying Vietnamese soon - I figure if I'm not too deaf to join the Navy, it'll be good to have at least basic grounding in a decent range of languages :P (Besides, languages are absolutely fascinating! Ranks right up with drawing, reading and writing with me, which is HIGH praise as those are my favorite things.)

Anyone ever heard of Charlotte Church? I haven't until recently, but she performed at the 2002 National Memorial Day Concert.
There are some videos of her performance of "You'll Never Walk Alone" available to download in Windows Media or Real Player format at the following link:

Also some mp3's of her performing that song and "The Prayer" available to download at the following link:

Very cool :) German is pretty easy to make out for me. French too. And a little Danish. It would be fun to join the Navy. Go around the world. Languages are fascinating indeed :) Reading, Writing, Drawing and Japanese are right now my favorite things :)
The number of Chinese languages is bewildering. There are differences even between one variant of language (I heard that the Shanghai dialect of Manderin is differen than the Manderin spoken in Beijing).
I heard of her although I never heard any of her music.
The scene at the Inn: the Archer, Fairie and restored Wrenn
Were together a vigil keeping
They worried and fretted and deeply regretted
And occasionally were seen to be weeping.
When all in a flurry came the Kings men in a hurry
With fear the Friends were shaking
'Til the words spilled out there was now no doubt
The Knight's fever this morn was breaking!
What joy washed them over and they hugged one another
Thank God above he'd be well!
And quickly they ran with all the King's men
To welcome their friend back from hell.
''Please take your rest and here convalesce
Let Tas work her magic and cures.
We'll stay at the Inn'' said the Fairie and Wrenn
With the Elf, their love was pure.
In a few days time, when his strength he did find
They walked with the Knight in the wood
They came to a glade - "Let's rest" the Elf bade
And they paused and before the Knight stood.
''You've our devotion, you know, and we've a gift to bestow
As is fitting a Knight such as you.''
From her cloak took a blade and with solemn vow made
A lock of her hair she did hew.
Then with dagger in hand she turned to the Wrenn
And clipped a length of her mane.
And added, you can guess, the beautiful blonde tress
was a lock from the Fairie Queen.
Yes, woven together now stronger than ever
The plaited strands were tied with a bow
They presented their favor to the Knight and did savor
The emotion they saw him undergo.
And he unsheathed his Champion and opened it's grip and
Gently inserted the plait
And turned to his friends and with an unbridled grin
And said ''I will forever remember this date.
I understand now how tightly we're bound
And this day I give you my pledge.
Friendship and loyalty and faith and duty
From this I'll never hedge.
You've been along thru trial and song
And you've stood right by my side
And from this day on we'll remain as one
Together we will abide.''
The Friends then returned to the Inn and sojourned
And enjoyed some time of leisure.
Taking time to calm was a most needed balm
And brought to them all such pleasure.
Sarge...
