ANNAPOLIS For the past several weeks, the Maryland Democratic Party has dispatched a researcher to record, photograph and shadow Lt. Gov. Michael S. Steele, a Republican U.S. Senate candidate, at his public events around the state.
The researcher, Jennifer Sconyers, has attended several events, ranging from a career day at Crossland High School in Prince Georges County on Wednesday to municipal visits to towns like Washington Grove in Montgomery County.
Paul D. Ellington, Steeles chief of staff and longtime political consigliere, told The Gazette that the Democratic Party is worried that Steele is connecting with Marylanders and is willing to do anything for the partys political gain.
Ellington said he expects Democrat researchers to attend campaign-related events, but attending public events such as municipal tours is excessive.
We have nothing to hide and our scheduling process is open, he said. We welcome the participation of all the public, but we find it somewhat interesting that the Democrats see fit to shadow the lieutenant governor at this early stage.
Democratic Party Chairman Terry Lierman defended Sconyers work, and criticized Steele officials for questioning it. Lierman said other researchers have attended Steele events to keep records of what the lieutenant governor says.
If theyre nervous that someones listening to what the lieutenant governor saying, then he shouldnt be talking or he is not telling the truth, Lierman said. This is an open process and these are public events that were attending.
Ellington complained that Sconyers was acting like a reporter, which was irresponsible.

This is getting dangerous, IMO.
If African Americans vote even as low as 70% Democrat, there will not be a Democrat president or more than 35 Democrat Senators for at least 3 generations.
Is she a stalker who needs a lesson in stalking?
An aide of Chucky Schumer illegally obtained Steele's credit report. Nary a word from MSM. The tactics of the RATS are hate crimes.
Is he being "stalked"? Do they hope to catch him in a "pick"?

Criminal Number 18F
Can you imagine if Republicans did this to a black Democrat candidate? We'd be hearing screams of stalking, racism, etc.
I just wish Mr Steele were running in a better state though where Repubs have a better chance of winning.
They're looking for mis-steps and mis-speaks than can quickly be turned into a campaign ad to be used against him. I'm sure they'll even take something out of context just to make an accusation that puts him on the defensive when he has no reason to be.
They will try to rattle him and knock him off of his message for a while.

Steele should recognize the DemocRATs and thank them for coming as they might learn something that would make them support him.
Here in Oklahoma, I hosted a Meet and Greet for our County Party with Bob Sullivan candidate for OK Governor. Ernest Istook (R-OK) who is a Congressman also running for Governor sent a paid staffer to the Meet and Greet to take notes and record Bob's talk. Sullivan handled it great by recognizing the paid staffer of Istook and launched into the fact that Istook had asked him (Sullivan) to withdraw from the campaign when Istook got in the race. After the Meet and Greet all the people in the room became Sullivan supporters.
What Istook did was tacky and it seems to be right out of the DemocRAT playbook from what I am reading here. Never had seen it before with a Republican candidate here, but then Istook was the head of the Jimmy Carter campaign here in OK.
I have thrown my support to the "real" Republican in the race who is a businessman not a trial attorney and not a professional politician -- Bob Sullivan.
He's already been through that. The worst of his sins are that he spent some time in a seminary, but didn't stay. He has a law degree, but never passed the bar (not sure if he even tried). But he did, horror of horrors, give his sister some advice during her messy divorce from Mike Tyson. (That was supposed to be "practicing law without a license", but most people saw it as a brother just talking to his sister. He never participated in any court proceedings). And he never did make a lot of money.
I'm sure we'll see new variations on those themes, but they didn't work then, and won't now.
Steele should recognize the DemocRATs and thank them for coming as they might learn something that would make them support him.
The dems did the same thing to Rick Santorum in his first run for the senate. At a rally in Scranton he "recognized" them and thanked them for attending. Go Steele !!! Go Santorum !!! Go Swann !!! The check is in the mail.
In Maryland the democrat base is made up of burocrats...black and white. I'm still very skeptical that any of them regarldess of race will jump ship.
I am trying to get his position on illegal immigration. No response. Ready to do what ever it takes to help him, IF he takes a strong stance
