March 18, 2006 -- WASHINGTON - Rudy Giuliani will soon make a pilgrimage to the politically potent state of Iowa - the first stop in the presidential nominating process - fueling further speculation that he's eyeing a 2008 bid, The Post has learned.
The official reason for Giuliani's trip is to star at a May 1 "Get Motivated" leadership seminar that's already being advertised in The Des Moines Register.
But the trip to Iowa, site of the first presidential nominating caucus, has much bigger symbolic value for Giuliani. "It tells us, at a minimum, that he's looking to keep his options open - and, at a maximum, [that] he's looking to interview people to run his Iowa operation," said Republican strategist Rich Galen, who helped run Iowa for President Bush's dad.

He can run and get beat in the primary just like McPain is going to get beat .
All the serious action will be in the GOP primaries. The Dem party is a farce. But the GOP will benefit from having good names in the crowd, including Rudy. I just heard Mitt Romney on the radio this morning. First time I have heard him. He gave very good answers on nat'l defense, iran, taxes, limited gubmint. dont know all his issues, but he was def impressive. chairman of the board of govs. def worth a looksee. can you imagine? a gop prez from massachusetts?
Sorry Rudy - you can't believe in infanticide and win the Republican nomination.
Oh, and how about you cheating on your wife? Um, that's not going to go so well.
Romney is going to surprise alot of people .I've been impressed with him and he seems very formidable .
Neither will this:
Rudy Giuliani: The Knight and The Queen 11/28/2001
According to The London Times, New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani gives kisses before he leaves every morning, but to neither his estranged wife, nor his girlfriend. Instead, says The Times, Sir Rudy gives a peck on the cheek to the two homosexual men hes living with. We always get a little kiss, its cute, says wealthy car dealer Howard Koeppel, with whom Giuliani has been sharing an apartment since June. When Giuliani was recently knighted, Koeppel tells The Times that he told Sir Rudy to call him Queen Howard. Koeppel (63) and his homosexual lover Mark Hsiao (41) have been comforting Giuliani, and trying to make him laugh, in the aftermath of the September 11 attacks. On the way to a recent fundraising dinner for the pro-homosexual state lobby group, The Empire State Pride Agenda (ESPA), Koeppel ribbed Giuliani by saying that if the ESPA was able to raise $100,000 donation for the homosexual victims of the September 11 attacks, Giuliani should agree to appear on Showtimes controversial Queer as Folk dressed in drag. Surprisingly, Giuliani agreed. Marty Algaze of Gay Mens Health Crisis once summed up Queer as Folk a show that touts graphic sexual activity as one of its biggest draws as one that would shock a lot of people. Showtimes Queer as Folk was inspired by the original series in Britain, which featured a storyline in which a 29-year-old man has a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old boy. The propensity to shock people is not new to Giuliani, who likes to dress in womens clothes as a stage act, and even did so once at a Pride Agenda fund-raiser. According to the Times, Giuliani has attended every gay pride parade in New York during his eight years as mayor. In 1992, during his first run for mayor, Giuliani took part in a homosexual pride parade that included a contingent of pedophile activists marching behind a banner for NAMBLA (North American Man/Boy Love Association). Frist voted for fetal cloning research. Condi is a pro-abort.
Will there be a non-Davos, pro-life Repub in the primary at all?
I'll vote for Rudy before I vote for McCain.
Unlike John McCain, Rudy has not spent the last 4 years stabbing President Bush in the back whenever he thinks the Republican base isn't looking. Rudy has been a staunch supporter of the President, and he has been exceptionally generous in campaigning both for W and for other Republicans in 2004.
He is relatively liberal on some social issues (or at least more liberal than many would like) but he is a STRONG leader, he is very strong on national defense, he is a tough law and order former prosecutor, and he is articulate, a strong speaker and debater and he can ABSOLUTELY Defeat the Hildebeest in 2008.
I hope he runs and I hope he wins. The War on Islamic Terrorists will be the number one issue in '08 and nobody is better able to lead this country and continue the Bush legacy of the WOT than Rudy.
How so, specifically?
Please tell me you just posted an Onion story.
If RudiG is thinking about running for Prez in 08, what makes him think conservatives will vote for him in the primaries. Rudi is a liberal. Rudi is pro-abortion, pro-gun-control, pro-enviro-wackoism, pro-illegal alien, pro-gay rights, pro-gay marriage and a big government Republican. Rudi is tough on crime. Okay. So are a lot of conservatives. The GOP can do better then supporting a liberal like RudiG.
No, an Onion story would be one where Rudy is depicted as a true conservative.
The article I posted above is all true.
He got my attention.
As Romney starts breaking away from governing Mass , we will start to see his true conservative nature emerge. He has had to be tempered by governing deep blue Mass and I must say he has some very innovative ideas that he believes in . He looks Presidential (which is important) and he handles himself very well when he speaks .
He is Presidential material if he shows his conservatism in the primaries . He is a darkhorse candidate that I would put money on.
Thank you for being so "on target".
Rudy redeemed himself somewhat during 9/11 but, his full story will not stand up.
He will not pass muster in the "Heartland" where he will be seen as a sinister "Sopranos"-like New York character...which is what he is.
Attorney General, Homeland Security, Bureau of Prisons...possibly. Definitely a candidate for a "heavy" in a casting call.
I hope he is not another one of those candidates who are supposed to reveal their true conservative nature in their second term but as only if there is a majority in the house and senate.
