Face it. Absolute power has corrupted the GOP absolutely. If you are a freedom loving conservative, the best hope is gridlock.

It's not a myth. I hardly think of his post 9/11 performance when I think of Guiliani.

I was a New Yorker from well before his term. I left several years before he was elected and returned until just before his term ended.

He performed a political miracle in NYC. If he performed half as well for the Nation domestically and with International issues, he would leave a positive mark such as no President had done in my lifetime but Reagan.

He stands head and shoulders above anyone else running for the office. But only if actual accomplishments count.

FDR performed political miracles too. They're both totalitarian demagogues.

Well Rudy is a smart guy, but he should save his money at least here in Iowa.

So, if Giuliani doesn't run on 9-11, what is he going to run on?

Crime? Cleaning the streets?

Sorry, but the rest of the country isn't in need of his services.

As for internationalism, he's too pro-United Nations. We don't need a leader who would beg for permission from the UN to defend this country.

LOL

One never knows, he may yet get your vote when you learn more about him.

You obviously have a lot to learn about his views and accomplishments.

If you know him so well, why can't you spell his name right?

I am not a single issue voter. Rudy is a very powerful candidate and wins every poll he is in.His record on National Security and dealing with crime and terrorists (remember Arafat and NY?) makes his moderate stand on some social issues irrelevant. His courageous stand on many broader cultural issues like witholding funds from Museums for displaying art offensive to religion is excellent.

If he is the one who could beat the Dems in '08 he will have my vote.

"The U.N. makes New York City the world's political capital." -- Rudy Giuliani

Gush, gush.

Anther reason why he should not be President. He is on a crusade to abort everyone, is secretly gay while he has illicit affairs with any woman he can find just after he takes away her guns in violation of the Second Amendment, didn't burn down the UN while he was Mayor, and most importantly has a name susceptible to being easily misspelled.

The rest of the quote: "The U.N. makes New York City the world's political capital. The U.N. enhances America's position and prestige abroad...and its economy at home. Yet there is a movement in America to reduce our commitment and, specifically, funding to the U.N. An ill-conceived proposition that would achieve only symbolic savings in the federal budget, while greatly impeding the operation of the United Nations and hurt the economy of the U.N.'s host country -- the United States. The continued viability of the U.N. is critical to America's continuing mission to foster freedom and democracy throughout the world." -- Rudy Giuliani

One wonders where such boot-licking will take us against Iran.

Well, it certainly doesn't help when his supporters hand out buttons spelled GULLIANI at the Tennessee straw poll, and then ask us to trust they really know they guy.

A lesson for you in reality vs. rhetoric.

In reality anyone living in NYC knows he took no crap from the UN. He took away the thing they cared most about, privileged parking around the city, and physically told them where to shove their hero Yasser Arafat.

All the protests and negativity about Rudy tells me he has folks here worried.

I am for ALL of our candidates to run in primaries. How else to select the best one?

Granted, he stood up to Arafat. That point still doesn't answer the question as to whether he would seek permission from the U.N. to act against Iran.

My hunch is his boot-licking was sincere.

Unfortunately, the best candidate frequentely doesn't win in the primaries or the Democrats would have had Liebermen not Kerry and we would not have had Dole in 1984, for two examples.

Republican absolutists armed with lies about Rudy can very well keep him from the nomination and usher in the next Clinton era.

No one's saying he shouldn't run. We're arguing whether he would win.

My position is, why waste time with someone who would never win the general election, let alone the nomination? Giuliani is too liberal. Run him as a Democrat, he'd fit right in.
