The odds are stacked against them. Instead of worrying about treating this slimebag (unless it's treating him with the chemical that would dissolve his testicles), they should be treating and monitoring those two boys.

The thing that makes me smile about the Bundy thing, is that he was nobody of any importance at all.

Sure he was involved in local politics on a limited level but so were, and are, millions of people.

He never posed for pictures with the first lady.

Heck, at least Bundy was attracted to girls, not guys, even if it was a fatal attraction, twisted thing.

Bundy worked for high up state republican officials but as far as I know didn't sprout out into national politics as Gacy did.

I believe Gacy met the Carter's during his tenure as Vice President at his local Jaycees. He also used that position to lure teenage boys to his home where he showed them porn movies and attempted to have sex with em. Wonderful community leader, eh?

If I remember correctly from my Criminal Psychology courses, Gacy was charged with 33 murders and convicted on almost all of them. The police believed he was also responsible for upwards of 20 more murders. Over the years prior to his execution, Gacy would admit his guilt in the murders, then deny them. He actually wrote a book while on death row claiming his complete innocence of all murders. I always planned on getting a copy of that book as a study into the mind of a psychopath. As of yet I haven't done it.

I don't hold it against Dems that Gacy was a democrat and met with one of their presidents anymore than I can hold Republicans responsible for Bundy or Henry Lee Lucas (another republican supporter). Serial killers often get involved in their community where they have the ability to exert some control over others. Politics is a big draw as is working for various governments, see Dennis Rader (BTK) as the classic example of that. They also have the ability to blend into society and appear to be "normal" to those around them. What's more "normal" than working for the betterment of your community.

I collected most of the lit about Bundy, but his particular pathology prevented him from ever admitting to anything until the very, very end, and most of it is 3rd party analysis..

I was left cold when he blamed his depredations on porn, or at least attempted to shift some of the focus off of him with that Video statement.

Probably true. How much worth and dignity can you possibly have when you're bought and sold for sex, and the perp gets a slap on the wrist?

There is no cure for pedophiles. No one has a cure for this and the notion of "treatment" is a sham.

For the life of me I can't remember the name of his book. I know it's in some of my notes from class, I'll go searching for it when I get a chance.

Bundy, not unlike most psychopaths, refused to admit he'd done anything wrong and when he finally did it was to blame outside influences (porn in particular). He only did this in an attempt to garner sympathy and hopefully a delay in his execution. Remember, Bundy claimed that he would direct the police to other bodies of his victims within weeks of his execution if they would change his sentence into life.

I'm not suprised you felt cold watching/listening to Bundy, it's hard to have warm and fuzzy feeling for a serial killer...
