Times Admits Incorrectly ID'ing Hooded Man

NEW YORK (AP) - The New York Times acknowledged in Saturday's editions that it incorrectly identified an Iraqi man in a front-page story as the hooded figure shown in a photograph from Abu Ghraib prison that became an icon of abuse by American captors.

After the original story appeared March 11, the online magazine Salon.com challenged the man's identity, based on an examination of 280 Abu Ghraib pictures it had been studying for weeks and an interview with an official from the Army's Criminal Investigation Command. The Times said it was investigating the matter.

The Times said Qaissi and his lawyers maintain that he was photographed in a similar position and shocked with wires, but that Qaissi acknowledged he is not the man in the specific photograph.

Who cares? The Slimes rarely lets facts get in the way of a good story.

The NYTs is getting out front on this scandal. Unlike CBS, when the Times gets caught making up news it understands it needs to discredit the original report, take its lumps for a week and then move on.

Saturday edition ... the least read edition of the entire week.
No doubt the story is buried on page 5.

Okay. New York Times, take one baby step forward. Go back. You forgot to say, "May I."

Any credibility the Slimes had left is gone. This could have even been a soldier dressed in that fashion to scare the inmates? Do we have innocent soldiers in jail because of pictures like this or maybe other doctored photos? A sorry ain't going to cut it this time.

Man's identity has been linked to an S&M club in San Fransico. Reported that Kerry was in town during this period and Dean was present........:)~

This only shows how stupid we Americans are. Over the last several years the MSM has been shown to be bigger liars and crooks than the Mafia ever was. On top of that they inflate their circulation so they can charge more for ads. But we still must have our news regardless of how accurate it is. They are tabloids playing to what Americans want to hear. There is very little if any truth in any of them. They are shaping America much more than the public realizes. Hopefully the Internet will keep exposing this but then again how accurate is the 'Net"?

Oh, by the way, did I mention that it is not a sin for a Muslim to lie to an infidel?

This isn't news. News would be the day they get something correct.

The NYT publish date and day of week are almost always accurate, anonymous sources told the NYT.

Read the story in the New York Times and nowhere else...

Our Scoops at the Crooked "T" are Forever ...

(not that we intended it that way --
but it does fit our reputation.)

This is just not acceptable. It totally takes away from the story. Funny that salon.com debunked it though..

Nor is it a sin for me to lie to a terrorist or a NYT reporter ( though I guess thats a little redundant ).
