WASHINGTON - Two more women have died after using the abortion pill RU-486, federal health regulators said Friday, in warning doctors to watch for a rare but deadly infection implicated in earlier deaths.
At least seven U.S. women have died after taking the pill, sold since 2000. The Food and Drug Administration cannot prove the drug was to blame in any of the cases.
In a cluster of four cases in California, the women died from an infection of the bloodstream, or sepsis. Those women did not follow FDA-approved instructions for the pill-triggered abortion, which requires swallowing three tablets of one drug, followed by two of another two days later.

I wonder how widely used this drug is.
There is a perfect correlation from taking this pill to subsequent death. Correlation is not cause.
I recall they took phen-phen off the market after 5 people died. But I guess if it were a politically correct drug, it's still be available.
And liberals still won't want to pull this drug from the market. That is how much they care about abortion.
That's what I was thinking. If this were any other type of drug than an abortion drug, they would be screaming for lawsuits, investigations, and withdrawal from the market.
This is no surprise...women have already been dying from regular abortions without any coverage from the media.
Women have been dying from the birth control patch - no media outcry.
When women died from phen-phen it was a big deal.
So - I guess it is acceptable when women die from "politically correct" drugs.
huh? Imagine that....
watch them sue the pharmacists....
grrrrrrrrrrrrr!
Thanks for posting.
FYI, speaking of that, I saw herself marching in the parade after Dunleavy ranted about not hearing hide nor hair of her, since she marched years ago for St. Patty's. Ms. Quinn (first lesbian office holder... supposedly), decided she would boycott the parade (we care), and instead go to Mass. I guess that's where she should've been.
The babies died too. Sad story.
interesting choice of words; apart from it's uncharacteristic lack of euphemism, it unwittingly paints the right picture.
"I recall they took phen-phen off the market after 5 people died. But I guess if it were a politically correct drug, it's still be available."
That's why I was wondering how widely used the drug is... to compare it there are about 4.2 million births in the U.S. and one mother dies for every 3700 births meaning about 1135 maternal deaths per year.
Yep, not a peep about it on DU. They care SO MUCH about women's lives....
My post is not to say that I like abortion, I don't. But it is tough to blame the abortion drug for these woman's deaths if it was taken improperly.
